my mom just got a scion tc...automatic frown i test drove it has some decent power, if it where a stick it would be way better. the engine is a 2.4ltr 160hp and 163fpt @ 4000rpm. so...could this engine be swapped into a celica?it looks like the engine is installed the opposite of the celica gts. Intake is in the rear of the engine... confused

The Celi is setup way better the other way.

lol, first of all, its not a scion engine. its a 2.4L 160hp toyota engine that is used in camrys. its a simple engine that is basically made to be driven comfortably. its not made for racing, but you can rebuild it probably by changing pistons and all that making it stronger. it has potentials cz its 2.4L but doesnt have much potential as a 2.4L engine that is made for a sports car. the engine is different so everything is positioned other places. the Intake, if im correct is on the drivers side near the headlight(thats how camry is). sure they are fun to drive, and they can be faster than a celica, but its not born with sports car balls. they look real nice though and awesome price.

The price really isn't that great... I went over to Scion.com and build a Tc, 5 Speed with some features I'd want and it came out to be like $19,500 or somewhere around that, and for that price I'd much rather buy another Celica...

My car is gunna be 10x faster than yours...haha... I'm gunna buy like 10
of those speedchips! I figure if 1 gets me 20hp then 10 will get me 200hp!

yeah, but celica cost more. TC gets sunroof, 17" wheels, ABS, and other junk standard. if you want all that for a GTS it's about $24000. and yeah, them 2.4L have decent low-end punch...

At scion.com a fully loaded mannual trans TC is over 20K, 5k in dealer mods that you could do yourself for at least half that.

I stopped by one of the dealerships last week and was told from the salesperson that it wouldn't be available until the fall.
