I just ordered some 18" wheels for my Celica (Enkei RS6). I am also considering lowering the vehicle with Eibach springs. How rough will the ride be with 18s and being lowered? Are potholes a recipe for wheel damage?
I have to deal with the occasional speed bump/incline as my ride does take me back and forth to work and is used for basic transportation - not just looking cool.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Just don't go too low. Which Eibach were you looking into?

In my experience so far, my ride isn't as bad as I thought it would be ... of coarse if the road is really bumpy I feel it a lot more than the other guy ...

Thanks in advance for any insights. if you didnt want a rough ride, you should have gone with 17's IMO...that would give you more tire, which means less bumpy

Thanks for the insights - I would probably go Eibach Sports line but I want to roll in the 18"s for a while before I go for the lowering. Having a scraped up front end does not sound appealing.

Eibach Prolines or Sportlines would suit you well.

i have the same rims your getting, and they are quite durable... in the last week driving to my new apt and unfamiliar roads i've hit 2-3 potholes with a pretty scary clunk and they are still perfect... no damage at all *whew*, i have TRD springs/struts and the ride is still very acceptable for street use, just bad road conditions will cause slightly less tolerable bumpiness...

Having a scraped up front end does not sound appealing. yes do that. A salesman told me to roll in my wheels before I lower my car because it looks like it may not need it...but I doubt that, I will most likely get TRD springs. And if you are looking into NOT scraping...Eibach Sportlines will be TOO low with the kit. I suggest the Prokit, TRD, or anyting 1.5 and above.

Again, thanks to everyone for the advice and being kind to the newbie. Alot of sites rip on the uninformed despite the fact it is clear some people are there for the purpose of getting informed - that would be me - I come to learn from people who know a lot more about tuning Celicas than I do. Thanks!
Soumds like anything more than a 1" drop with 18"s is asking for commute trouble . . . you guys RAWK!!!!
