i'm going to replace my lift bolts this weekend, and since my car still has 29k on it, it would still be under warranty to have the dealership replace them. my question is, do you think they would be dicks about my i/e and not service it, or record taht i have it done for future warranty issues? i am almost thinking that i should just buy them there and do it myself since it doesn't appear to be too difficult
your Intake and exhaust shouldn't do anything because technically your not fooling around with your engine--but toyota dealerships are known for being dicks.
what i would do is take it in to them and see what's up--its really not worth taking your Intake and exhaust off for such a simple problem, so if they do NOT cover it because of that i'd just buy them and do it yourself..it's pretty easy. of a scale from 1-10 i'd give it a 2--and that's only because you've never done it before. otherwise i'd give it a 1
but really...i hope they cover it cause it'll save you some hassle...just keep your fingers crossed and hope you catch them in a nice mood.
^^ Actually HIS is covered because lift bolts are covered for 60k miles and i have Extended warranty in which it was not covered because they "do not cover bolts or fasteners" it cost 812.00...

Wait, lift bolts are covered under the 60K Powertrain warranty??
My car has 53K miles one it. How do I ask them to get the lift bolts replaced? I asked them today when I brought the car in for the Drive Belt and Belt Tensioner and the guy did not have a clue on wtf is a Lift Bolt.
How and what do I say to get my lift bolts replaced to the newer ones for free under my 60K warranty?

u need to tell them it's call Flange Bolts..there are TBS(Technician Bulletin Statement) on the Flange Bolts for the year 00-02..so they know what u're talking about..got it? the parts guy didn't know fuck when i told them about Lift bolts either..luckily one of the Service girl know what i'm saying and print out the TBS and give it to me, and explain to the sale dude waht it mean..
What I was thinking of doing is try to replace it myself. If I pull the bolts out and see that it is broken, then I will take it to the dealership to be covered under the warranty.
I pre-ordered 2 bolts and it did a $.68 damage to my wallet for both bolts!
