You want a dark blue don't you? Mine are a dark cyan using blue EL wire as the light (covered up the stock lights with chrome tape).
If you use blue acetate chances are it will be a mid to light blue. What might help is to paint the back of the Climate Control panel blue, with transparent paint of course.
I recently tried taking off the chrome tape and changing my stock lights to blue with the blue light condoms to brighten and darken the blue. But messing around in there busted something on the panel and now the stock lights don't work at all. Using the EL wire again.

Those stock lights go out very easily, at least the power source to them does.
Sometimes by just flicking the circuit board, they will come back on. Mine on the other hand took a little more than that. I checked the four multi-fuses in the interior fuse box, and one was blown, so I replaced it and they worked for like a day. The fuse is fine, it's just that the circuit board is very fragile, and I can't find what connection is faulty on it.
