prestige by audiovox

it features a pager that will tell me just what part of my car is getting messed with, display that looks an awful lot like my car, and remote starter, which adds all kinds of pimpness. all at 1000 yard range.

there's plenty of more i can do with it that i'm still figuring out. like check the temp of the inside of my car. all bought and installed by circuit city for $440.

cool

I saw ducky carrying that around on his keychain. I always wondered if it was some super-mini cell phone. rofl

Sweet thing! Now I want one.

Does the remote start thing work on autos only?

man, that alarm is kwazy. pretty neat feature to see the temp inside your car. i think it was worth the $$$, oh and yes the remote starter will work on manuals and autos. but i think you'll need somekind of bypass thing cause of the clutch.

Yah, when i went to have my alarm installed, I asked about remote start. The guys got all excited looking, saying that they have to bypass the clutch and do all this extra work.

Got me a little worried.

Then I realized that if you leave the car in gear and remote start it, it will jump forward, possibly hitting another car (or person).

yeah, you can have a remote starter in a manual, it's just that if it happens to be in gear, it will drive off... wave

Actually I have COMPUSTAR, and ya you CAN have remote start with manual transmission.

Its just that you have a small series of steps to 'prep' your car to autostart...ie..leave it in neutral. If the car is in gear the car will not start.

Of course, this all needs to be INSTALLED properly...

but ya, its do-able, and i love it. grin

A kid I went to highschool with got remote start on his civic. He remote started it one day when we were all standing in front of his car.

It shot forward and I kid you not broke his leg when it hit him.

We all stood there in shock...

I got COmpustar and I think it's the best. I got a 1.25 mile range. It's an alarm and remote starter that starts my 5-speed 2000 Celica GT. You can check the systems out at www.compustar.org [compustar.org]

by the looks of it, not much more than the brand is the difference.
