Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Check engine light

My check engine light came on and went to AutoZone and they diagnosed it (for free). He said that it came up to be an emissions error. He told me that it usually says that when the gas cap isn't on all the way, but we checked it and it was fine. Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe it's something that happens often, I don't know. Any help would be great.

yeah that can do it. There is a warning on the gas cap that says "TIGHTEN TO 3 CLICKS", engine light may come on.

i tighten 6 cliks

2 clicks should be enough.

Get the actual code. Just by saying that it's related to emissions doesn't clarify anything.

Yeah i have that problem all the time. The code has do to with your evaporator system. This system is just for emission reasons so it really doesnt matter. Every time it comes on just disconnect the negative cable on your bettery.

Shit!, that happened to me last week and again today the light came on again. Don't know why this time.
