I have a 2001 Celica GTS and I think there is something wrong with the driving belt. Whenever I press on the gas it makes a clicking noise so do you think its the driving belt? If it is the driving belt do you think its easy to fix by urself? I dunno but seems like my car is going to die out soon or something so im just making sure because I dont want my car like breaking down messing up the engine.

This "clicking noise", where does it come from? If you open your hood & rev the motor a bit, can you figure out where it is coming from? confused

Check your oil first.

it comes from my belt I think im not really sure but then my belt was making a sound back then and i just ignored it and just sprayed some belt dressing on it to get rid of it but then now I think the belt is getting worst and its making a clicking sound. I think its from my belt and I just got my oil changed recently from toyota dealers. do you know if a driving belt is hard to fix because i dont want to bring it to the dealers. tahnks

Could be your belt tensioner pulley or the belt. Depending on your mileage, just change them both.

Not difficult to change, but if you don't have mechanical experience, you should take it to a dealer. They will probably only charge you a half hour labour & the cost of the parts.

umm thanks Do you think it could be my engine? Could the engine make a clicking noise? My engine seems to run fine and when the engine is on and I stop there there isn't no sound. My car has around 38k miles on it and but I drive hard with this car put like 5k miles on it in like 2months and Yeah I drive really hard so yeah. It cant be my engine right?

What are CV joints? I dont really know anything about those car stuff. If there is something wrong with my engine I would hear it right when I start it on already right and would my engine light pop up if there is something wrong.

Die soon? Its a 2001! rofl

Its not your engine, i'm almost certain of it. Its probably the belt tightener. I would have a qualified professional look at it and give prognosis. If you don't know about "car stuff," I probably wouldn't install it yourself. happywink

CEL doesn't always come on with engine problems. Mostly electrical stuff, like CAIs and air Intakes. I doubt its your engine, though.

okie thanks. I had a problem with my belt before because it was making a noise so i just sprayed it and whenever i high rev the sounds come back so i just kept spraying. There was a time when i was like racing with myself i was going from 3rd to 4th but i accidently hit 2nd and i over reved my car and i started to hear the sound later on that day so im just scared its my engine. I dont know anything about cars so thats why im scared I just got this like car like 2months ago around.

Mine is a 2000 Celica GTS with 87K miles on it and its doing the same thing, make sure you're not just hearing piston chattering too, because Ive heard thats a common problem too. I know what you mean though because my belt had a slight squeak in it a while ago so i just put some dressing on it, and now its doing the same thing, I would have it checked out, its probably the tensioner.

Goodness, just take it into the shop if you don't know what's up. if you don't know anything about the mechanics of cars, what's the point of trying to fix it? Just find out the problem and get it checked.

I took my car to the dealers today because there is still an warranty on it. They checked the car and they said the sound isn't coming from the belt or pulley and the sound are coming from the engine. Well they are going to give me a call tomorrow telling me whats wrong because they gotta wait till my engine is cold to do the last test. What do you guys think the problem might be? o yeah they opened my value cover because they think the sound is coming from there.

Metal on metal ... defective internal part ... motor probably will need to be rebuilt, at their cost of course.
