I have badly rusted back rotors and calipers. I work at a company that has many chemicals, inks, and such. After wasting a lot of time in the chemical room reading the products contained therein and breathing the fine noxious fumes, I found this stuff made by Lawsons. I think it's called Lawsons rust protectant. It actually changes the chemical composition of rust, protects the material from future rusting, and is able to be painted over. I asked a maintenance guy about it and he said there's a product by Gibbs or Gib? that is a rust protectant but 10 times better. Made for gun cleaning I think after a quick search on the ol' Internet. I'm thinking about giving my brakes a dose of this stuff. Any body else here about products like this?

well when i restored my motorcycle, i just used sand paper and water... it worked great, then i follow with a sanding with wd-40 as the lube, and the bike stays rust free because the wd-40 reples water... just make sure you rub in the same direction, then you wont have swirls
