- before you begin, disconnect the negative battery terminal. After the Intake is installed, reconnect it and let the car idle for 15 minutes

if you get a cel, clean the mafs...

no no, the cel light will only come on once you install it and resetting the ECU will fix the problem and turn the cel light...it shouldn't come on again, if it does, then you actually have a problem...

also how much did you guys pay for your aem or injen cold air Intakes? just wondering because i called up three Performance shops around me and one shop is asking for $255, another shop asking $249, and the last shop asking for $353 for the aem cold air Intake that i want to buy... is that a rip off or what? cus it sounds expensive for a Intake.. so im wondering on how much you guys paid for yours..? thanks a lot i appreciate it. peace

Pay somebody else to install it if you can't understand the instructions the aem has, it seems easy because it has pictures all over, i did it my self also reseting the ecu.

Hope you like it! thumbsup

it won't void ur warranty man..if they do i'm sure most people wouldn't want to have them on..some peep on this site have 02 and 03 and 04 model celi..and they all have either aem or injen or tpr or some other name Intake and it's fine..oh yeah, word of advice, DISCONNECT UR BATTERY BEFORE YOU START anything...once you got ur stock airbox off and out, take out the MAF sensor and clean it while you have them out...no point to take them out again after you put them in/on the Intake...so..
1- Unhook battery (ALWAYS)
2- Remove stock airbox
3- Install AEM Intake
4- Clean ur MAF sensor
5- Install ur MAF Sensor
6- Hook up battery
7- Start car, let idle for awhile..

good luck..follow that and you would be ok... thumbsup

well if i do get the Intake.. i was planning on going to a shop and have them put it on because i have no clue how to put it on myself not a mechanic dont know how to put on stuff.. but i want to learn though. so i may take some courses for it. so my question is this, would the mechanic that puts the Intake on for me do those steps that you told me to do or what?

Depends on the mechanic.. also i've never did any engine work on any car.. and putting in my AEM CAI was the first thing i've ever done.. it wasn't soo bad actually.. but took me about 8hrs lol.. with breaks inbetween rofl

8 hours!!! holy shit...i spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out the instructions that AEM provided and the instructions that are on this site and gave up and looked at an installed pic and got it done in 45 minutes

man..i have no machanic skill watsoever and i figure it out how to install the Intake in 1hr..study ur material first..print it out and take it to ur car and try to go step-by-step and figuring out where is what and what goes where..after you have mastered the art of figuring out what hook up to the airbox and how to take it apart then should you go and install the new Intake..as for the machenic if they will do what i told you or not, i doubt it..they will skip the idling part..atleast they will idle it for 2-3mins..top..no point in having them install it for you..since you live in IL i'm sure there are other celi owner on here that live near you and are happy to help you out i you ask..shit i would install it for you for FREE if i live near you..

JUST TAKE UR TIME, READ THE INSTRUCTION..MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT IS WHAT..EXAMPLE..THE AIRBOX AND HOSES, THE SCREWS T HAT HOLD DOWN THE AIRBOX..ONLY 2..THAT'S ALL..you have to give urself a chance to learn about ur car..there's a lot of info on this site and on the NC site as while..check them out, they have 2-3 guides about installing Intake for you to look at..don't be scare to figure out where thing goes in ur car man..plus if you take time and do it well, u'll save urself 50-80bucks of installation...if you watch the machanic and see how they install it, u'll slap urself on the face when you get home..cuz it's so easy..i took my Intake out and installed them back in for like 5 times already...Go do it..

thanks celicafourotwo i may check it out and read into it.. i got a friend that puts on his own parts on his dotson that he has.. so maybe he can help me put my Intake on
thanks alot. so if i bought the Intake at a Performance shop and they install it they wont do all the steps.. would they reset the ecu and clean the maf? and maybe idle the car for 15mins? or just the ecu and maf and not idle the car? thanks a lot peace. oh btw im either getting injen or aem dunno now because if i get the injen i can get the splash guard for safety reasons or get aem and get the aem bypass valve for the aem for safety reasons again but i dunno if it would be effective as in the injen splash guard would it? dunno which one is better safety... anyways thnx and im ordering the part tomorrow after work and going to get it next week some time because thats they only time i can go there to get it lol.. i was going to have them put it on my car that day.. they told me it would take an hour to put it on for 50$. anyways i will read on it and maybe i put it on with my friend. thanx peace
