I drive a 2003 Yellow Celica GT (automatic frown )...but anyways I have always been able to go over 100 MPH and hit around 125-130 MPH. The past couple of weeks whenever I try to get over 100 MPH my car starts jerking and simply wont go past 100 MPH. I have tried it with OverDrive on and off, and it simply will not go past 100 MPH.

But, I put it into 2nd (the one below drive), which I know is bad to do, and then finally does it go somewhat beyond 100 MPH.

Is this a transmission problem? Or if no, then what could it be?

have you checked your RPM's? Perhaps you're hitting the fuel cutoff. Putting it into second isn't helping your gearbox any. GT's aren't really built to take speeds like that regularly, if you do that too often that could be your culprit. ALSO if it is a new car it should not be driven that fast right off the bat.

I don't know how you drove in the first few months, but you're not really supposed to go over about 65 if the car is brand new. Because you have to make sure all the internals are properly lubbed and broken in so that when you go 100+ the engine can handle it. If you drove too fast when the car was brand new you could have weakened the internals of the engine. So now something could be damaged. Also check to see if you're hitting the fuel cutoff for the RPM's

here is a question for you, WHY THE HELL DO YOU NEED GO ANYWHERE CLOSE TO 100MPH??? wtf without a doubt, 2nd is not meant go around 100mph. you're killing your own car. you're not suppose to push your car before 500miles or so. it's probably still under warranty, take it back to the dealers and have them check it out for you. and take it easy on the car...

you may be looking at getting new internals or at the very least strengthening your tranny...
