My key had gotten stuck in my ignition and would not turn completely off. I took it to the dealership, not only was it not covered under the extended warranty, but they wanted to charge me $331.45 to fix it.
Don't bother if this happens to you. Simply take the ignition switch out yourself and take it to a locksmith.
they only charged me $15 to fix it.

i had that same problem, my key wouldn't come out of the ignition, so i had to leave it in their.

Then a locksmith was called by toyota and he ghetto rigged my ignition switch, can take key out but it's all ghetto now.

Going for a new switch tomarrow under warranty

I don't know if this is your first dealings w/a Toyota dealerships. Other than oil changes, scheduled maintenance, and I forget the third. They will rip you off. Even the oil changes and most of the maintenance you can do yourself. Then they might say there's a problem that will cost $2000 to fix. The dealership will charged you an arm and a leg or give you the worst time even if covered by warranty. Just remember this - when you go back, put your face paint on. It's your way and they're going to do it like it or not. Go Braveheart on their asses. To bad you're in TX. I could fix that for nothing other than a sandwich, because I'm dying for a nice BLT or hoogie.

don't get an oil change from the dealers, especially the "express lube." i had missing headers heatshield bolts, missing oil filler caps, dripping oil, and a broken antenna all from a simply oil on my paseo in the past...

My key got stuck in the ignition about three weeks after I bought the car. I just kept bending the key and tinkering until it came out... and it never bothered me again. Who knows.

My dealer has always been cool with me. Theyve given me some very good deals and havent even charged me for some stuff that I've had them check out.
I hear some people talk about how much their Toyota Dealer charges to do some things and I'm like "what? Thats outrageous!" Dealerships are independantly owned - it just depends on who owns the dealership.

The key in the ignition is a long toyota flaw with the way they manufacture the ignition "LOCK" mechanism, the plate in the switch can get stuck after a while.
