Hey guys...I was wondering if any company made drilled big brake kits for the '02 GT. I don't particularly like the slotted since it'll slice through brake pads in a sec. Also, is it worth it to do a rear disk conversion?

i don't know of any that are just drilled..both rotora and aem big brake kits for the celica are slotted or slotted and drilled.

a rear disc conversion really isn't worth it as far as Performance is concerend (it won't help)...but it is a very nice style mod thumbsup

doesn't slotted work better by allowing more air into the brake pads thus cooling them off faster? i think. i would go dirlled and slotted. best of both, but i know you only want driled and i have no idea where they would be

^^ drilled & slotted can actually weaken your rotor under high stress because the surface isn't even enough. it's best to get drilled OR slotted--but manty name brand big brake kits have enough surface area to do both safely (since the surface is so big, the rotor can still be considerred stable under heavy and constant braking--although have them drilled OR slotted will still be stronger anyday)

i think you are thinking of drilled--drilled rotors help prevent 'brake fade' because they allow air to pass through the rotor and therefore they are cooled more efficiently.

slotted rotors are basically just grooves in your rotor that help give extra grip to your pads--but as already mentioned they will wear your brake pad sooner than a totally flat surface thumbsup

If i'm not mistaken, Brembo makes just a new rotor replacement for the front that's just slotted or drilled you choose. It's not a big brake upgrade though if that's what you want.

Thanks a lot for all your input. I'm not sure what I gonna go with considering all the kits out there are slotted. BTW Round, slotted disks are like knives to a break pad, so that's why I'm trying to stay away from it.

^^ well they're not THAT bad..but they do wear out your pads faster.

that said, decreasing your stopping distance by a few inches to a foot can realistically mean the difference between a safe stop and punching the car in front of you.

also, almost every auto parts center (such as pepboys, autozone, ect) offer 'brakes for life' where a one time fee of usually $80-$90 is paid and your brakes are covered under warranty for the life of your car...meaning free replacements and such thumbsup
