Can anyone tell me what a synchros is and what it does? wtf I have grinding when I shift from 3rd to 4th and someone said my synchros went bad? Does that mean I need a new tranny? I have a 2000 gts with 42,000 miles. Does powertrain cover this?

Look at this article :

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/transmission4.htm

Typical Powertrain warrenty from toyota is 5 year / 100,000 miles and does include the transmission, they might give you a hard time to be prepared for it ... I'm not 100% sure if it covers the syncros but it should grin

You have to take it in the toyota dealer to have your transmission syncros fixed ...
