Just removed the butterfly valve from my air box. I've been procrastinating long enough, so just ripped it out in a couple minutes. Can't notice too much of a difference in sound, but i'll try it again tomorrow. CEL didn't come on, so all is good. My question is, what should I do with this valve? Anybody want it? I could sell it to you for the cost of shipping and handling. rofl thumbsup

Probaby not worth anything because everyone had taken them off their celi's. Toss it in the trunk for the next owner incase they live in Michigan & need it for the cold winters. grin

I still have mine installed. Would it void warranty if I was to take it off? What does it do anyways?

It reduces air flow when its cold. Kinda works like a choak, changing the air fuel mixutre.

I don't think it would void your warrantee if you removed it.

nah, that valve has nothing to do with emissions. Will not void warranty

it also steadies the idle on a GTS at low rpm's

If you remove it, you will lose vacuum pressure on the GTS when coming to a stop and the power brakes activate.

It's the reason the cars bog down to 400 RPM

The MPG was about the same when I removed mines. It will be slightly louder and adds 1-2 hp, I heard...

Yep! It was there as a choke to control air flow. Fast cars have bad MPGs, while economy cars are the opposite. Let more air in, you're burning fuel faster (Need oxygen to fuel fire, same with combustion). The sound is similar to a CAI, but not as deep. Better off getting a new Intake and ripping the airbox out for more gains. 1-2 hp gains without the butterfly are bs. It hasn't been dyno'd.
