I install this today and i used air conditioning filter for a house and cut it down. Its the all white flat type made up of fluffy interwoven fibers?? will this cause a problem or should it work fine???

thats basically what you're supposed to use in an air filter. The ones you'd buy from, say, toyota are just fitted.

well this air filter is verry puffy and lots of loose fiber strands so just wondering?

I use the 3M, I think 20x30x1 its white interwoven fibers (kinda fluffy) with and metal wire mess interwooven into the fibers...but it sounds like you got it right...I use two layers...Houston is nasty sometimes.

i dont know what brand it was extra laying around the house. no mesh wire but yeah the fluffy stuff

As long as it fits you're good to go...it might not last as long though...you might make sure it is rigid enough so it doesn't get pulled through the tray into the fan...this could be a prob but more than likely not.

I get my filter from Lowe's/Home Depot about $11 for 3 double thick filters.
