After riding in my friends IS300 and driving my car, I noticed that my car shakes a lot after 80MPH on the freeway. It's kinda annoying for long road trips. The handle kinda vibrates and makes my hands really tired after a while. I know it's a sports car and the celica isn't very good with road noise, but do all of your cars shake? I drive a 2000 GTS (6 speed) Thanks.

Maybe you need an alignment. Or maybe your tires are not balanced.

So if i get my tires balanced and aligned, it shouldn't shake as much? How much is it to fix, and where can I do it?

Mine never did until I put my 17's on, & they had to have a spacer b/c they weren't hub centric. The posts are right you need an alignment &/or balancing. My steering wheel is starting to vibrate again at 75 mph, my tow is out & it needs an alignment again. Also the wheels get a little chopped when you are running low perf tires, so make sure they rotate them every oil change too.

Ok I went to firestone just now, and they quoted me 45$ for wheel balancing. I'm thinking of getting new tires as well...I don't know shit about tires so can someone tell me which ones are good, and how much they might cost? I have the stock 16" alloys. Thanks thumbsup

Align them, balance, and rotate!

Like Charles said. Big $$$ if you don't.

I've done 100+mph with no problems, but mines a month and a half old.

I'm thinking about these: Yokohama AVID H4s/V4s

http://www.yokohamatire.com/TireIntro.asp?TireID=48

would 205/55R 16 work on my car? And does anyone know of good shops where I can buy these or maybe an online shop with free shipping? Thanks

hey bro go check out this website! its really good and you can get tires for a fair price! They ship'em straight to ya door. All you gotta do is take to a near tireshop and they will mount and balance for you. It should about 60 to 80 dollars to do! I did mines on my car before and it was cheap thumbsup check it out!

i've had wheel vibration due to not having Spacers.

my latest wheel vibration that occurs after 60 mph is due to bent rims. if you notice the steering wheel vibrating it is the front one(s) and if you feel the vibration in your seat is the back one(s) and if you feel it in both you're screwed.

currently i have three bent rims but only one is really bad and noticeable. getting them fixed would cost 'bout 75% of the purchase value, so it isn't cost effective to fix them when you can buy new ones with new tires also. also, mine have a ceramic white and any work would mostlikely crack it all...

hopefully it is just your tires or something...

I took my car to Wheelworks today to get it balanced and aligned. It cost me like 90 bucks for the front two, but now I can take it up to like 90+ and it won't shake the handle anymore. The car feels better overall and feels more responsive, I took my car through some twisty roads today after I got it fixed. Fun stuff thumbsup

I notice that the back end still vibrates a little bit, but it isn't terribly annoying so I guess I can cope with it. I found out the tread on my back right tire is pretty much gone so I need to replace it soon.

I have another question now regarding this. Is it ok to have 2 pairs of different tires? Ex: 2 Pirelli on the back, and 2 Yokohama on the front? I heard somewhere that it's not that great to have different kinds of tires on your car but I'm not too sure.

Thanks for all your help smile

A cheap search engine to use for items is www.froogle.com [froogle.com] (Made by Google) type in what your looking for and then sort by the lowest price, I found your tires in question:

Yokohama AVID H4S 205/55-16 for $83.99 a piece at:
http://www.etires.com/tireSpec.jsp?specID=3959

Yokohama Avid V4S 205/55-16 for $81.00 a piece at:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?...romCompare1=yes [tirerack.com]

I personally use Yokohama Parada Spec-2 225/35-18 deal

id think it could be:

air pressure in tires
tread on tires
alignment/balance

motor mounts
suspension ...but that im sure is just for older cars
