Hey i have a 2002 gt and like my car alot. I almost got it looking exactly how i want. the only problem with it is that it is slow. any car with anything decent in it can run all over me. i am going to start teaching in jan. and will be getting a whole lot more income than i am getting now so i was either looking into getting a Turbo, for my car which i only pay 300.00 a month on or trading in my car to try and get a evo, or a 350Z, maybe even a sti, which will run over 500 a month. My question is how much would a complete Turbo kit cost more less, with new internals and all things i would need for the Turbo. what would yall do?? Thanks

Time for an upgrade.

If you want to go faster, buy a normal WRX and a big Turbo. Then you won't be stretching to make a mega car payment every month, but you will be able to zoom around. smile

noooooo...don't finance a Turbo kit...that's where you'll pay. It's bad enough what they do when you buy your car unless you have perfect credit. And don't trade it in...you'll lose big time there too. I would save up starting now and more come Jan., and buy a Turbo kit with cash mid 2005. Just some advice. Practicing delayed gratification (only a year really) will leave you wealthy in your later years. Trust me on this.

If and when you decide to buy a house, get an interest only loan and take the money you save and put it in at least a 10% return. But even better than saving and not paying anyone interest: Never lock up your money where you don't get any return. Rule of 72: Divide 72 by the interest rate % you are getting and that's the number of years it will take for your money to double. E.g. 72/10 = your money will double in approximately 7.2 years thanks to compound interest, the 8th wonder of the world. So if you put away $2500 right now or later at a 10% return (my family knows of them and it's not stocks!) in 7 years you'll have $5000 to pay for a Turbo kit. Or if you get a 20% return (also available you just have to know) you only have to wait 3.6 years!!!

You could bore the engine to 2.0L, stroke it and then get the SF Turbo kit. Also, you could lower the compression 8.8:1 should be good, 3" downpipe, 3" mandrel bent exhaust piping, 3" swingvalve, and the list goes on. That's if you want more power then just doing internals, otherwise I would say just get the SF kit ($3499) and a better exhaust and new rods and pistons if you want to run a higher PSI.

My car is gunna be 10x faster than yours...haha... I'm gunna buy like 10
of those speedchips! I figure if 1 gets me 20hp then 10 will get me 200hp!

Wouldn't it be nice to put in a stroker kit, a big ass Turbo & some nos. One of these celis putting 400 to the road would be something to see.

I've been looking for a stroke kit, but I can't find one! Does anyone know where I can find one?

To use the Trial kit you'll have to move up to a 2zz base. The 2zz has a bigger bore than the 1zz so it makes sense for them to make the kit this way. All they do to increase the displacement on the 2zz is just increase the stroke.

http://www.trial.co.jp/trial-usa/original/engine/celica/3zz.htm

So you see considering the 5 grand price tag, you'll be better off putting a Turbo in your GT, unless you want to go pro in the all-motor class.
