Did the cop accuse you of speeding, when you were not?

you can try looking in the phone book for a pro bono attorney who will handle it for free and reduce it to a non-moving violation aka parking ticket. If not, you'll have to pay an attorney anywhere between $100-$200 to keep the speeding ticket off your record and to keep your insurance from going up. For those people who live in Vegas, you can contact Craig P. Kenny who does speeding tickets pro bono. He took care of one for me. Good luck.

Here is what you say...I was not speeding, simply accelerating quicker than the rest, which yielded a higher velocity. The higher final velocity is due do a increased acceleration throughout a given distance at a matter of time... then make up some more stuff and you are sure to get away free.

you can't argue with cops. That doesn't work. You can charm them if you're a hottie and you're their type, or you can use a sense of humor to lighten things up and make them more at ease. Or you can present yourself in a way that makes them feel sympathetic. Don't use logical argumentation with a cop. He'll just slap a ticket on you.
If you do get a ticket, it's simple like I've been saying all along: just take it to an attorney. 99.9% of the population does not realize what an attorney can do for them regarding speeding tickets and other moving violations.

or say what I said. Tell him you had bees in your car and one landed on your pedal so you floored it to kill the bee.Since you wanted the bee to be completely dead you kept pressure on the pedal

ok he might laugh at you thinking you're telling a joke and then may let you off, but probably not. But if you try to pass that off seriously where I'm from in SoCal, that will just get you a Big ticket, no kidding.

You could get court supervision. As long as you don't get another ticket for 90 days it won't count against you.

If you are paying that much, then shop around a little more, and don't go to lawyers that work at those "traffic law centers."

I get mine fixed for $30, and used to get them done for $50.

paying that much? "pro bono" is Latin "for the (public) Good" aka "free." Free is better than $30 IMO.

Yeah you plead guilty and they watch and see if you get a ticket for the next 90 days. If you get no tickets then, the one you got doesn't go on your record. You can only get court supervision once every year.

I say court supervision because he is guilty of speeding. He admitted to doing 70 mph in a 55 mph.

is court supervision a guaranteed right if you request it, or is it something granted to you after request if the judge feels like you can have it? if so, is it the same in all states in the U.S.?

Who "admitted" to doing 70 in a 55? Outlawster33? He admitted it to us, but he did not state he admitted it to the cops. Even if he signed the citation that is not an implicit admission of guilt in any way, as it just agrees that those are the charges the officer is making.

If your are a good comfortable speaker, go to the court room and ask the police officer exactly how he judged your speed based on how many cars he had to manuever around? There could have been any number of cars between myself and you and that would have no relation to my speed. {Use some type of example of your logic --example} Even if you had to manuever around 20 cars, that would not increase my speed.

Judges are obviously going to be bias towards the side of the police officer so you have to be smart, simple, very coherent, dress nicely, be prepared, do not lose are your tempor and any given time, look the cop straight in the eye when he is talking and look the judge straight in the eye when you are making your point, and try not to be nervous{or at least try not to show it}, and also cross your fingers thumbsup

I would do this only if you like bingo, blackjack, poker, baccharat, roulette, craps, slots, you name it. It's your money so it's up to you. How much are you willing to bet on your speaking skills and the judge believing you over the officer? Enlisting an attorney for a speeding ticket is much much more of a sure thing than what you suggest. Stay in control of the situation, whatever you do, racing or life in general. Always play the odds in your favor and you'll come out a winner overall.

cop pulled me over for 50 in a 35 tonight (all within a ONE SINGLE BLOCK drive) he said he paced me - I asked him why only when i pulled over and put on my flasher because i saw him behind me, did he only just then put on his disco lights? he didn't answer anything except, "i paced you at 50 in a 35 zone" and to that, i replied, "i pay close attention to my speedo and it never went above 40mph"... then after 20 minutes of whatever the fuck he was doing in his car, he comes back and says it was 55mph - i called him on this bull shit and he says that whatever i wanted to hear wasn't what he said, "55mph".

either way - there was no way i could have been going even 50 mph all within a single block, after just finished turning a left, and then to be paced all within that single block as well.

I can see it as the pig needed to got 55mph to catch up to my 40 mph... but not pace me on it thumbsdown

piggy piggy pig pig wtf

Damn that's a BS ticket.

You have to fight that one. If you take it to court and explain how short of distance you were traveling on that street, and that there is NO way for a cop to catch up to you and pace you over that distance, any logical judge is going to toss it...

that's a good question because I'm curious on it too, and the guy who brought it up has yet to answer my latest questions (if you scroll up). But all in all, even if it is true what he is saying, I still see it as losing control of the situation by putting yourself at the mercy of the police and the courts. What if you DO get another ticket within those 90 days for BS reasons. Then you would be definitely screwed because both tickets would go on your record, and it would be much harder from then on to use an attorney to get rid of speeding tickets given your blemished record. I say go attorney from the very start, and always from then on. It's the surest route. I only have parking tickets on my record and my insurance has not gone up a penny.

sorry about the pigs Isaac...

regardless of how it turns out, I would file a formal complaint against the officer who obviously did all in his power to unjustly give you a speeding ticket. Try to speak directly with his superior and make sure the incident and your complaint gets stuck on his record.

First he told me 50mph, then 20 minutes later he said 55mph and i called him on it and he instantly told me that he could put me in handcuffs and make me spend a night in jail - when it was all said and done, he wrote 55mph is the violation on the ticket, but then wrote "actual speed 52mph"

what I'm wondering is how the heck could he have paced me all within this distance that i had been at a complete STOP, waiting to turn left, and then less than ONE BLOCK later to another COMPLETE STOP confused ... of 55mph confused confused

Any additional sound or light modifications can also draw a cop's attention. The neon running lights, thumping bass, straightened exhaust pipes, and glass packs might make you look cooler in Cali, USA, but they also mean that with your cool points, you get points on your license (the more points you get on your license, the closer you are to losing your license, possibly permanently). Additionally, cops seem to hate tinted windows. If you don't have tinted windows, don't get them. If you do, make sure you immediately roll all of your windows down the minute you get pulled over. This allows the cop better vision into your car giving her/him more confidence about the situation. When the cop is relaxed, your chances of avoiding the ticket are better. (Maybe you should consider playing Enya music when you get pulled over|
