Sounds like BS to me. I mean your alternator is not an engine part, but the injectors are.

I take it you are covered by some sort of powertrain warrantee? Read it carefully & see what it says.

Fuck Toyota. Should be covered, but you could always check junk yards. Should be pretty cheap.

A lot of electrical parts are still covered under warranty, it doesn't have to be part of the motor.

Is it called the "Platinum Warranty" by chance?

I had the same thing when I bought my car used, and I think I have a brochure explaining everything that is covered, but it's at home.

I'll check it out later tonight when I get home and let you know. Let me know what type of warranty you have though.

fuel injectors dont touch anything electrical. it basically is near the engine, and without a fuel injector, ur car wont run. seriously, they should cover it. but were talkin about toyota here.
a friend of mine just showed me a letter from toyota he got. it says that the lease of his car ended 6/24/04, and the car was returned 6/26/04, they charged him 300$ for it.
truth is, he returned the car 6/22/04, but somehow toyota flipped the whole thing around. check out ur warranty papers and see wut is covered.

ok, pay them. But instead of wasting your time suing them for fraud, just mis-shift and blow your motor so you get a brand new one on your used car. Now they better not say that the motor is not part of the "motor"! But knowing Toyota...ya never know... rolleyes

^^they'll read the ECU and see your revs...they'll know you misshifted...and when they find out you'll get hung out to dry.

true, but I have heard people say they misshifted but still got the motor replaced on their warranty. Unless those people are lying. I don't know I'm just such a trusting guy. grin

from their point of view yes, but an attorney for us can argue product defect b/c it doesn't have 2002 rev limit which fixes the problem. If you blow on a 2003, then "Toyota rolled out another defective year" hehe. Anyway, how does rpm prove misshifting? It doesn't. Yes the freeze frame data will indicate the rpm at that moment, but if it's 8400 you don't need to misshift to get there. If you stay at 8400 rpm long enough there's a good chance you will blow your engine.

But remember you can always threaten to sue them for fraud and misrepresentation if you don't want to pay.

I know legal representation is expensive, so threaten them saying you have a family attorney, and the next best thing is to actually have a friend who is an attorney who can write them a letter or give them a menacing phone call when you're there in front of them.
