I bought a TRD Short Shifter about six months ago, and installed it around the same time. Everything works good.

I was in the basement last night, going through boxes of parts that I installed on my car, and I came across the short shifter box. Inside, I noticed a little bag which contained I believe 4 small round metal discs. Are they brushings, and was I supposed to install them?

For the install, I just basically swapped the two shifter assemblies (the white casings) and everything worked fine. Are these parts just replacements for the factory counterparts, and are they a must? Thanks

Oh, and by the way. All of the installs on SS kits metion nothing of these parts.

they are supposed to go on the bushings (metal) that came with the kit.

they are sort of like washers, if you will, only, not really.

Are they essential, and what are their purposes?

I've been using my ss without it since I installed it. rofl

the metal bushings make the shifts more firm/slick

the rubber ones are so that it's soft and spongy.

Either set works, depends on what you want.

Fuck, now I wanna put them on, but I'm too lazy to rip everything up, not to mention I have other problems I've gotta fix.

Where are these located within the shifter housing?
