yeah...we drive fast here in GA...anyone on the boards from Atlanta that drives on the interstates can tell you that if you drive anything less than 75 mph you'll get run over...anyway, I got nailed yesterday while passing someone. there was an escalade riding my ass, and a corvette riding his, so I went to pass the car in front of me to get away from them and went to the fast lane to pass, then about 2 miles down the road got pulled over by a state trooper for going 89 in a 55!!!! eek eek spineyes rolleyes He got me by laser, and said that he got on the motorola about the escalade, because he saw it and he was gonna have a motorcycle cop pull them over up ahead. MY record WAS clean...oh well rolleyes, time to learn to abuse the crap out of cruise control again, and learn some patients cry (I'll probably get ir reduced to a lesser charge like excessive speed or something...one of the perks of working for an attorney thumbsup) The cop also told me that I had a nice car, and that I should be careful because it stands out more so than most any other car on the road(solar Yellow celi)

If he didn't radio the tag to the cops, it won't hold up in court. Mr. Escalade will get off rolleyes

You will still have a clean record if you get this fixed by an attorney.

And the attorney will not reduce it to a lower charge of speeding, but rather to a non-moving violation. That way, your insurance company won't find out about it, and your rates won't go up. Also, it won't go on your record, and you won't have to ever tell an employer that you got pulled over for speeding. Some employers check on this if you perform a job requiring you to drive a company car, or something like a valet job. Nothing will show up at all, not even the charge that the speeding ticket gets dropped to, which is often times "illegal parking."

You still have to pay as much if not more than you would if you would have not gotten the speeding ticket fixed, but this way, you don't get a rate increase.

Doesn't matter if they were pulled over, if a cop radios a traffic violation to another cop, he must report the license number.

If not, it's assumed another escalade could have been there, and they could not determine who the person was driving the escalade the cop saw.

They will write you a ticket for it, but just take it to court. The cop on the radio has to show up, as does the cop who wrote the ticket. The judge will ask "did you radio the tag number along with the description of the vehicle?"

"No."

Then, he'll ask "Is it possible the escalade you pulled over was not the escalade the officer saw preportedly commiting the traffic offense?"

"Yes."

Case dismissed.

This actually happened.

Some kid was street racing (I was in court for a speeding ticket) and a cop saw him while he was writing up a ticket, he got on the radio, called it out to another cop, pulled the kid over, arrested him/etc.

When to court, judge threw the ENTIRE case out, because it could have been someone else. Without a tag number, it could be any escalade. Another one could have pulled on the road, there could have been two on the same road.

Reasonable doubt.

But, you never know if the cop told the bike cop to just look out for a speeding Escalade, and the cop on the bike got him on his own radar.

You're right though, the 1st cop would have had to gotten the Escalade's plates, otherwise, the 2nd cop would have had to gotten the Escalade on his OWN radar, and not take the word of the 1st cop.

But another thing, if you are driving an Escalade, and you got a ticket based on the 1st cops radar, and not the cop that pulled the Escalade over, what are the odds of the Escalade driver actually contesting the ticket? The bike cop could have just told the Escalade that he got him on his own radar, and just used the 1st cop's reading.

Cops BS a fair amount of their tickets because they know that the vast majority of the population won't contest them. Hell, it's your right to view the radar if you are pulled over by a cop who claimed to get you on his radar, but 90% of people won't ask to do so. That's why cops write so many tickets, because they just make shit up all the time.

I rode along with a friend of the family who is a cop a few years ago while he was on patrol, and it was about 11 P.M., and we were parked in front of a cemetary overlooking a busy road. It was also in a very wealthy neighborhood mind you. Anyways, we were sitting there for like a half hour, and he's telling me about a bunch of BS, blah blah blah. All of the sudden, a POS early ninety rust bucket Buick goes past us carrying 3 black people, or african americans if you want to be gay about it. The cop got him on radar, but the radar read 34, and it was a 35 zone. The cop decides to pull the car over about a quarter of a mile down the road.

He asks for the driver's license and proof of insurance and runs it back in the car where I am waiting. Nothing comes up, no warrants or outstanding shit like that, so the cop starts thumbing through what looks like a Bible. Actually, it's an ordinance book, and the cop was so bent up on giving these guys a ticket (I guess he hates black people or something) that he goes through this book and finds something to give these guys a ticket for.

He winds up giving them a ticket for expired tags (ok, so that part wasn't too bad, since they did have tags that were almost a year old), some ticket for not having their trunk properly latched (the trunk was somewhat bent causing it to look like it was open when it clearly wasn't)and a ticket for broken rear taillight. There was a hole in the taillight the size of a half dollar, and you could barely even notice it.

And for some reason, I forgot which reason he used, he searched the car and persons. I was blown out of my mind, but some people are actually stupid enough to let a cop do an illegal search on them, but some people are so scared or intimidated by authority figures, that they just let them take advantage of them.

Anyways, he wound up finding nothing but an empty tall boy in the back on the floor, and poured out what seemed to be like 5 milliliters of beer from it onto the pavement, and arrested two of the "suspects." He had them taken away in some other cops car since I was in his car. Pretty funny though how stupid some people can be to let cops do half of the things they do.

Here, read this...

http://www.legis.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/gl_codes_detail.pl?code=40-6-1

Gives a breakdown of speeding fines. Good to know that you can speed up to 5 mph over the limit and not get fined. grin I'm also looking for how much your fine would be since you got clocked 1 mph over the maximum fine that it lists on there.

Also a good site for anyone wondering about speeding laws in their state, and what constitutes "wreckless driving."

Yes we drive fast in Georgia, Its nothing to hit 85 on the way in to work. I've been in the same situation, speeding up to allow the guy on my bumper to pass. You got caught, along with the Escalade. So what's the big deal with Escalade? It's not like he is going to be reading this board. Looks like y'all were caught fair n' square. Sorry that it happened to you, and I'll keep it in mind. Good luck in court!!

man i've learned my lesson some time ago, pay that ticket man, unlike me who didn't pay any tickets and went on probation for 3 months (just got off last tuesday).

If you would of stayed in that lane the cop may of not tagged you with their lasers of doom, bad luck.

"Yes."

Case dismissed.
that sounds all fine and dandy, but i just got done in court dealing with cops. the lawyer i hired had just represented the police department in a case a few weeks earlier. he said that cops will say anything on the stand that will get a conviction. might be different down there, but here cops will lie right to the judge.

check your local laws, some counties have not adopted lidar as a means of clocking speed in to the law books, but use it on the streets anyway.

I hope you mean pay a parking ticket. It doesn't matter how they clock you or even if they have God standing there as a testifying eyewitness. An attorney should be able to reduce it to a non-moving violation solely by the power of an attorney, so to speak.
