So, I need a radar detector that will:

a.) Keep me out of jail
b.) Well...Keep me out of jail.

Any input on the best radar detector would help. Just looking over my shoulder and in the rear-view mirror is a little different with all of the blind spots that the GTS offers. It'd be better for me to throw down some cash for an R/D than contributing to the fine state of California ohboy ohboy ohboy ohboy ohboy ohboy ohboy ohboy.

Any ideas?

Valentine is excellent, but for a overal decent detector Escort and Cobra do fine... I have a Cobra XRS9300 and for my style of driving it works great...

Valentine is a great detector. Well worth it if you really do drive that fast all the time. Seriously though, be careful. I don't care if you hire six guys to drive beside you and look for cops, eventually you're gonna get busted if you drive 90+ mph on a regular basis.

Thanks,

I'll check those out. Don't worry guys, I'm not gonna run anyone off the road. I advise against buying a motorcycle. I've had mine for a few years, and since I've had it, 65mph now feels like 25mph. It's a curse. A curse I tell ya. And now, the curse falls upon my GTS.

Beat me to it. thumbsup Best one on the market today. Quality and value. Escort Passport x50

90 isn't that fast! Depends on where you drive. In LA yeah, but in San Diego driving up the 15, 90 keeps you up with traffic. rofl

Passport is NOT better than the valentine. The valentine they tested was the lowest, worst model you can get. Not even the valentine one really. Don't get the 400 dolar one, get the Valentine that has remote radar senesors in the front and back bumper for best coverage- the kinda one that runs you 750+

A quick course on avoiding tickets.
1) When going through unfamiliar small towns, obey the speed limit. Local cops love to ticket strangers.
2) When on the expressway, allow a faster car to get ahead of you, let the other guy be the "bear bait" and get the ticket.
3) In my section of the country, everyone drives about 10 mph above the speed limit with out being ticketed. Find out what the "tolerance" is in your area and stick to it.
4) situational awareness. When everyone else slows down to 45 mph, then something is going on, and you better slow down...
5) Police radio travels at the speed of light, your car travels at about 0.00001 speed of light. You will not win this race.
6) Cops do not have to be smarter than you. That is why they have computers and laser guns. Keep all your insurance and registration documentation up to date.
I am sure there are many more of these tidbits of information out there. That's all I can think of right now...

Speeding is just an expensive hobby. If you want to do it, you must be prepared to pay the price. Also, if you are going to speed, you better learn to drive or else your going to end up killing someone.

Where's a good track in California? I live in South Bay. I've been doing some research and have found that there's not really anything guaranteed to jam Ka band radar, yet. But I'm starting to think that radar detectors don't really help that much. "POP" or "Instant" radar seems to be the biggest pain in the ass, seeing as how a cop can clock you, instantly rather than on a constant road monitor, just because your car looks fast. Only takes a second. So a radar detector in that case would only afford you the opportunity to say "SHIT!" earlier. But regardless, all the "good ish" seems to outlawed in CA. But, I'll keep looking. I'm gonna open a new topic in General Discussion that you guys can check out if you want. It's gonna be about rain and speeding tickets. Late.

Here in Ontario, the lazer radar is starting to show up everywhere. No jamming it or detecting it.
