Wow Darren...

A hand built car for only $40K.

It's like having a Ferrari, only, not as expensive. Plus, it kills the F40 on a track eek

I think its purdy...but I'd never fit into one...I'm 6'3"...the elise is a car I'd always want to have and would never be able to have, even if I could afford it

yeah I saw that Nate.

I'd rather have the Lambo over the Focus, but that Focus was INSANE. eek

AZZ, you'd fit into it. The first one delivered was to a guy whose 6'2 and he fits in it fine.

REALLY!!!! HOLY HELL!!! I'd love to have one then...there is a lambo, and exotic car dealer near my girlfriend's house...I'll go ask them about it. I just hope that they ahve a better tranny than the one in the GTS
I know it has a GTS (basically) engine, and I know that the GTS has synchro problems, but I hope that for 40,000 they'd have that problem worked out

My thoughts are this:

Keeping the Celica (it's now paid for)
Buying a bike (under 4K)
Buying the Elise after I get a real job.

I love my Celica, I'll never sell it spineyes

It's got the same tranny (C62 I believe) however Lotus says you need to BREAK IT IN.

Toyota never says that, and I bet 99% of GTS's that went out on a test drive got banged into second gear within the first 10 miles of use. Big no no. frown

I have no idea, but I imagine it's more than the GTS, but it can't be THAT much more.

Probably like 50-60% more than the GTS, maybe as high as 70-80.

I doubt it would be double. Probably 5-6K per year.

The Elise is a NICE car. I am torn on whether or not it's overpriced, though. I just keep thinking... Elise for 40 grand with 190 HP or Turbocharged S2k for 40 large with upward of 300 ponies. I know the weight difference is huge... but still.

hell yeah...I was in the UK last year, and they have elises to drive at silverstone raceway.. eek...I wanted to go but didn't get a chance cause I thought I was too tall, and I was taking a tour of the factory where they produce the ULTIMA GTR!!!!!...for those of you who don't know what that is look here!!! [ultimasports.co.uk] ...it was nuts. I rode in their silver demonstrator car with a 650 hp supercharged 350 V8...it was awesome...not to change the subject or anyhing, sorry...but yeah, I had a chance to drive one of the older ones and didn't cause I didn't think I'd fit in the car

i consider them as nicer mr2
which is right considering its has 2zz engine and tranny
better accerlation through modified exhaust and ecu for better torque
just those things will cost 7000 for parts.
Not to mention its lotus. Exotic car.
it comes with better verything.
so i wouldn't mine paying 40k for this car. considering the mr2 cost 26000 plus 7000 engine and tranny and stuff.
i think the price is right.
And it goes 12's in 1/4

How much shorter is that thing compared to the Celica?

I would get one in the future, but I don't understand why they have to be convertables. When you're making a car to be that light, it just seems counterproductive.

That may not be the most flattering picture of the new Elise, but it is definitely an awesome car. Go for it! thumbsup
