ok im in search for a 2000 gts. looking specifically for one with an average 30-40k miles on it. how much would you guys pay for it? i decided i wont be paying more than 16,000$ out the door. is that too little or too high in ur opinion? anyone who has experience with these stuffs? btw, toyota always asks for minimum 17,000$ for gts with these certain miles on them, i just cant believe it, but i guess you can bargain it down.

btw, anyone living in socal area, NEVER shop for car in north hollywood. pricks want 19,000$ for a 2000 gts with 52,000 miles on it. now isnt that cheap?

ps. everything im talkin about is toyota certified vehicles, and i want a certified.

My 2003 is only supposed to be worth like 18.5k private party, if I recall right.

Don't pay anything over KBB price. thumbsdown

^^ragingpaseo, im not buying it private party, buying it off a dealer. you wont find a celica for that price with 40k miles on it from private party anyways.

you can still kill the price. tell them about the paint chip, rather true or not. the transmission, the color, the dents, the wear on the seats. anything that will help. it's better off buy it off from a private party. you can get a loan from a credit union; it will probably be less than the dealers anyway. good luck...

I actually just bought a 2000 celica gts with 27k for 14,100. although she was asking for 15,500, but she lowered it because she was moving. I looked around and before i bought it, i saw gt's from 12-14k, and gt's at around 16 or so. So i guess if it had decent miles, under 16 would be alright.

I think that 16K for a Certified is a very good price point.

I am saying this because on Autotrader, I found 2 GTS that are both Certified for around 16K.

One is GTS 6 Speed for $17K with 45K miles, but I am sure that you can bring it down to $16K no problem.

The other one is 16K with only 36K miles on it...but it is an Automatic.

So yeah, fight out with your dealership for 16K because that is very reasonable for a Certified.

If you are interested in purchasing one from a private party, you can easily get one for 12K.

I got mine recently for 11K, but the guy was really asking for 13K. However, the guy was really nice and ended up giving up the car for 11K + 1K worth of Sound System.

So yeah, there are deals out there...

^^chelica, are the deals ur talkin about going on now? if yes, which toyota dealership you talkin about?
i went to an independent car dealer for a 2002 gts with 33,000 miles. the guy was asking 16,000$ for it with trd kit but he wasnt going a penny down on it. that actually is a good deal, but the taxes, interest and warranty was raising it to 19,000

I recently bought a 2000 gts with 41K on it and I took a loan for $15K. That paid for everything from the dealership.

Yeps, the deals are going on now. However, I am not sure how far you are from the dealership. Where are you located anyways? And are you looking for a 6 Speed or an Auto?

Here is the 6 Speed GTS
17K [autotrader.com]

Here is the Auto GTS
16K [autotrader.com]

You know what tho, with these car salesman, you gotta be super aggressive also. If they won't budge, just tell them that you will only pay 16K out of the door and just start walking away. If they won't bite, then try elsewhere.

But yeah, do not pay any more than 16K with Taxes and etc. from a dealership for a certified.

Another option that I would suggest is to get one from a private party, and use the remaining funds to perform a full tune up or even purchase an extended warranty. You can prolly get a GTS with the specs that you want for about 12K. Then use the remaning 4K for a FULL tune-up and extended warranty.

but you forgot this. once the car doesnt have anymore warranty on it, you cant buy extended warranty for it. plus, there is no way i can find a celica for the price you saying. an average retail starts at 14,000 probably. i never seen a private party for that cheap.
also, as you adviced me. i tried to do that for the 02 i was looking car, i said this is my budget and i left, the guy didnt call back. i dont blame him though, the car was in good condition, but i dont feel bad about it cz 19,000$ is still a lot of money plus it was cloth seats.
anyways, will see wut happens, hopefully i find one by the end of august. ive made my decision to buy a celica 1 year ago exactly. i loved the celica since the first day i saw it on the streets, and i fell in love with it once i saw it at long beach racing. it was way over my budget back then, but now it aint.

Yeah, it took me about 1 month to finally get a good deal on my GTS. I actually found my car from Craigslist. I even sold my ZX3 on Craigslist. So if you have one near your area, check that out.

You will get it one way or the other, just use that as your motivation. Keep looking and it will one day be there.

I got mine for 11K and a few other people also purchased a GTS for around that price, so it is possible.

i think you got about 50-60,000 miles on it with no warranty. i dont remember ur story if you got it off a dealer or private. remember, tax and finance are 2000$, and low miles cost alot, and certified supposed to be more expensive cz of their warranty

Yeah, that is true. 40K is not that rare tho, 30K will be harder to find at that price range.

But I got mine privately. The guy purchased extended warranty tho. It is until 2006 or 100K miles. Basically 11K flat.
