Hello,

I have a 2000 GTS and would want to get a lower grill for my Celica. Something that looks clean and not ricey. I am planning on keeping the car stock other than painting the side skirts, so yeah, any advice on where to go in terms of grills?

Thanks

So I am looking at about $125 bucks for the lower grill correct? Ahrite, this will be my last option because of its price. But I wanted to see if there are cheaper ones before I go and make the purchase.

Thanks for the tip Sultan

Here's a post - looks kinda like a DIY. If money an issue (and when isn't it?) you may be able to pull this off pretty cheap.

Try ebay... you can get the 02-current lower stock grill for like $55. I got it for my 00 GT and it fits perfectly.

Thanks for that DIY link. I think I will be getting the grillcraft or that Ebay one.

Hey Mach, do you have a picture of your car with that EBAY lower stock grill?

no, but I could take one tonight... it is the actual 2002-up lower grill, so looks it is the exact same as the stock newer ones.

What is holding up the Grill if you were to make your own?

Nonthing is holding it up. I lossened up the front bumper. Created a gap and slid the grill up from beneath. Then tighned the bumper. So really only the force of the 2 obejts mushed toghether is holding it up. They say you can use some zip ties but i didnt. Its been installed for 5 months or so and not 1 problem.

I'll try to take some pics tommorrow if I can and I used UV resisitan (black in color) zip ties to hold them in. For $8 its the first and best mod I did to my car grin

That will be great. Hey, you sell those homemade grills man?

I would not mind paying you. I tried making my own back in the day on my 00 Celica GT and it was a failure, haha.

Eric is doing great and thanks for sending the sample nobody had a idea what i was talking about when I went into the store, intill i should them the peice.

And celica815 there easy to make. All you need to do is use some wire cutters and cut a strip out. That right there takes the longest. Then just losen the bumper up and stick it in.

Sounds great. I think I will have to do this on Weds!

So what is exactly my shopping list? If I can get help on this, that will be great! And where can I get the parts from? Home Depot? Llowes?

And what are the measurements for cutting?

Hey Eric, that last pic is freaking great man! It looks like a baby hiding behind covers, haha, love it. I appreciate you waking her up BTW. O yeah, you are located where in the Bay Area?

hey Chelica815.. yah actually I just checked how far Pacific is from my place and its heh a bit far.. about 45 mins away.. tongue

installation I followed years ago was this
https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_57014_0_collapsed_5__1.html#57014

As far as measurements just try out the ones listed there ^^

Its all guess and check. Heck the sheet is huge enough for mistakes ...

Shopping list..

all can be found at home depot
1. Wire cutters
2. chrome spray paint? (got my from kragen =p)
3. I'd recommend the Black UV zip ties
4. time
5. that wire stuff which is used for walls i think and they put concrete on it. I got mine from Home Depot. Its a HUGE sheet that I had to fold it in half to put it in the trunk .
It would probably be stocked on the floor and around the screen door isle and plastic roofs I think it was..

GTQuentin might be able to give you better help as to where he got his...
