I never did understand why they put a reverse beeping sound on the earlier models tongue If the celica was an SUV or a truck sure.. but a sports compact rofl

only 6 spd, so you don't confuse 1st gear with reverse, which could be bad...

Hey I just was talking to my friend about this tonight and we had an idea...

Would it be possible to hookup a reverse warning beep... but hook it to a musical horn? Like La Cuca Racha?

You can't hear it outside. Everyone who gets in my car laughs and says 'can you hear it outside'. Its useful though for people who maybe haven't been driving the car very long. It takes quite a shove to push it over into reverse which is next to 1st. I couldn't imagine anyone doing it by accident. Bit over the top to have it disabled. How often are you in fucking reverse?

I kind of have gotten use to the beep about 40,000 miles ago. I don't even notice it. It's no big deal to me.

Yeah, only 6-speeds have them. I guess so you don't confuse first gear with reverse.

Everyone who gets in my car makes fun of it.

I don't mind the beeping inside the car, it is not like I reverse for a very long time. Thank god that it does not beep outside, now that would be like a garbage truck!!

How were they able to hear the sound tho? I thought that you cannot hear it from the outside?

.. mine is a '03 GTS manual and it has it, so does my moms. I think it's a good thing because of how somoene could easily put it into the wrong gear and the beeping isn't even that loud. If your emberassed to hear your own car beeping on the inside then there is definitely some self-concious issues at hand.
