Has anyone done a custom ipod install in their celica? I tried searching the forums but the damn thing never works and just gives me stuff that doesn't even have the searched words in it.

^^^ thumbsup

I don't think the sony you have has aux ports, but I could be wrong. It would be an 1/8 in plug input, either underneath the faceplate, or if you have a motorized, on the side of the faceplate. Different manufacturers do different things. Hope this helps. smile

i pod makes a wireless thing... you dock your ipod on the unit, then turn the radio to a certain station, and listen to whatever's on your ipod...

pretty cool thumbsup

FM Modulators = bad buy
strip your already encoded mp3s out of even MORE frequencies. Really bad idea- try playing it with a sub in the system. Teehee. and they're vulnerable to interference.. and a pain to setup everytime you turn the ipod on.. and wires galore.. and..

no wires with the one my freind has...just a docking station... sounded pretty good to me.

i agree with shidarin, modulators suck bad...

if you have rca inputs or 1/8 stereo aux in, you can use those to hook up your ipod, i highly suggest never to do anything wireless when it comes to sounds, you loose a lot of quality thumbsup

yeah i've seen that all in one dock plus FM deal, but I've heard the quality of it and it blows bigtime. I did some searching and came across this: http://www.densionusa.com/x/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=375&Itemid=79

Looks promising, but the price is pretty steep i think. The model of my Sony is CDX-M600. I'm not sure if it will be compatable or not.

^^
fm modulators are compatible with almost any head unit with radio, what the modulator does is the music coming from the devicec connected to the modulator is turned into a virtual radio station, and all you have to do is tune your head unit to whatever preset frequency (like 88.1) the modulator is outputing, but you will loose quality.. thumbsup

all you need to do is pick a location for it. Hardwire the "car power adaptor" to run off another powerline instead of the crappy cig plug, and make some sort of custom dock station that has access to the power wire you just wired in, and an AUX for your stereo. THe rest is all creativity.
