well since the gts is my first manual experience as a daily driver, i can honestly say that the two cars feel completely different.
there is definetly a lot more room on the inside and you also sit a lot higher than you would in a celica.
the transmission was also very differnt, from the smoothness of shifting to the feather light clutch. when i was shifting gears, i wasnt completely sure i was even IN gear.
i honestly ( and obviously ) feel that the celica was more for me.
it has a slighty more rugged and sportier feel to it
from the notchy but reassuring shifter to the extreme push of VVTL-I
i can honestly say that besides Performance, these cars are completely different
p.s. some of you may not care, but i though it would be intresting to post something about these two cars other than Performance

rsx-s seems to be more driver friendly with the soft clutch and very friendly and smooth shifting. overall, like ive said a lot before, acura is more sporty-luxury while the celica is just sport-aggressive both looks and Performance wise

^^i agree completely, its just that i wasnt even sure if i was in gear, other than that everything was real nice.
when vtec engaged it wasnt a radical swithch over but more of a linear pull.
still in love with the gts though grin

... the eternal battle of VTEC engined cars vs. the rest.

Going off topic but I think VTEC is over rated, the 2zz-ge engine is definitely technology advanced to the VTEC engine, which is why it's just like the I-VTEC which I rarely hear anything about.. what's with that?

Can't say I have any interest in the Type-S, kind of ugly/boring, interior is not so hot (cheap leather too,) it sits heigh and as I've said a million times.. I had what was allegidly the best FWD production car on the market (ITR) and traded it for the GTS thumbsup ITR, Type-S and GTS would be driver races so they all have their pro's and should fair nicely against one another.

i-vtec seems to be just a little bit more linerar than
vvtl-i
again it just depends on what you like, both cars perform pretty much the same but there styles are almost completely different
from the interior to the exterior its kinda luxury vs. kinda sporty thumbsup

The RSX-S is a sweet car. I drove one extensively before going with the GTS. Altho you could mod the RSX more, I just felt the Celi was more of a true sports car. Cant' put to words.. just the feeling. Lower, handled better.. you always knew you were in a sports car.

The other thing about the GTS i liked (which is actully a double edged sword) is that it is MUCH more DIFFICULT to drive! The RSX is pretty straight forward in terms of shifting, where the GTS takes talent to hit each shift in lift. (not just a few RPM below, but in FULL LIFT!!)

To me, that in itelf makes the GTS a sportier car. It seperates the boys from the men sortuv speak!

Unfortunately, this can work against the Celi driver if your racing an RSX-S.. if you don't hit lift on shifts, and the RSX driver knows what they are doing, you don't stand much of a chance.

They just pass by and laugh at you? That's pretty jacked up!

I dunno what the hell is up with folks. I see a beat up ass car and I don't pull up next to him and laugh at his ass.

Rude asses!

we'll just put it this way. All honda cars are made to be "Driver Friendly" - this is there new image of sorts. Like the Si, it went to a solid car to a waste of money. The new Integra's (RSX), went from formidable sport compact to driver friendly.

The older VTEC engines (H22, B Series, so on..) are way more expandable than the newer(K series) ones, who gives the new Si a 6,800rpm redline? Unlike the older ones (1999-2001) that had a B16 in it that had a 8,000rpm redline.

Like stated before, Honda's are "Driver Friendly" and lack the sportyness - unlike the S2000 when honda started to get smart -.

LONG LIVE THE CELICA

as for kevin, the guy in the rsx that passed by you and just laughed is nothing but a loser. he doesnt know shit about a celica. does he think he drives a faster car than a celica? he can kiss ur ass, a celica is harder to drive than an rsx. celica was out before the rsx and still manages to keep up with it, celica is the pimp while the rsx is the pimptress lol.
as for real talk, they are both really nice cars. you cant talk shit about any of them cz both have their advantages. you cant say that you hate the rsx shifting, its smooth as hell and thats kinda good. gotta respect both of them, but i prefer celica bcz like someone else said, it is more "true racecar"

I don't care for the smooth shifting and soft clutch. Seems more like a luzury car to me.

I like a car that is hard to drive, makes the experience more rewarding. spineyes

The newer engines have much more potential than the B-series as the aftermarket further developes. Attaining 230+whp isn't too hard with a K20A2 N/A, with Toda's N2 kit.

The reason for the lower rideline is because of the greater displacement. In a B16, you need a higher redline to make horsepower, but the downside is that you don't have much torque. With the newer Si, the 2.0L engine doesn't need high revs compared to the b16 to make that 160hp.
