Celica Forums General Discussion General whats the difference between a 71/2 and 8 inch width trim

i want to buy a set of 17 inch matrix shadow rims but they are 8 inch width, does anyone know if these will fit my celica, I know a celica with 18 inch matrix shadows but I'm not sure if the width is important and what kind tire will fit. what the difference between a p205 and a p215, what type of profiles are we looking at? what's better? HELP!

As long as the bolt pattern is correct, then it will fit.

205 and 215 are numbers for how wide (in millimeters) the tire is. Profile would be the number after the 205 or 215 number. That number is a percent that tells how wide your profile is.

Example:

Tire specs are- 225/35/17

225= how wide the tire is (the track of the tire)
35= the profile of the tire is 35% of 225
17= the size of the rim

You can go about an inch or possible more over the width of the rim with tires, or at least I know people who have.

the offset is 35, should i get a 215 45 17 or a 205 40 17 and will they fit the 8 inch rim
