if its not mini dv you cant use firewire like jgmx stated above. if its something like high8 you have to buy this connector that connects to the yellow video and white/red audio sockets on the camcorder and then converts it into usb. they arent that cheap, best buy has 2 versions one is $70 and the other is $140, both come with movie making software. you can also find this converter on ebay for as cheap as $40
