i am being offered a Used AEM CAI for $200

i want to know if that is a good deal and if there is any power difference in it because its used?

plus he said i have to pay for installtion which may be $100

so over all it'll be a used CAI for $300
good? bad?

a new one is average 220$
if all the parts there and the thing is not cracked, then get it. i assume nothing is wrong with it, or else he would have sold it cheaper. you can do the install urself if you want. its really easy. instructions are at the installs section of this site if im right and it should come with instructions

u dont need no power tools. buy one of these toolboxes if you dont have shit, they cost very cheap at pep boy, and you can use it later on when you put more mods to ur cars. they come handy to you in ur life. or else just get a friends tools or let em do it for you cz 100$ for install is highway-carpool robbery

YOU'RE BEING RIPPED OFF!!! a new one goes for 205...ask isaac. plus 100 for install is a bit expensive. you can ask mike at BRS and he'll do it for 60 and he has experience doing those as well. If not you can go to F1 motor sports and know they can do it for just as much.

Usuall price for a used Intake is 100-150 bucks!!!...please get away from this person

I'd have to agree with ct. A used Intake should range from 100-170 depending on the condition it's in. If you are willing to pay 200, you might as well get a new one. As far as installation, it is pretty easy, all you need is the install guide from this site, a socket wrench, screwdriver, and something to cut the plastic around your wheel well. The hardest part is taking off the front bumper and the old air box.

I wouldn't. AEM is probably the low end of the CAI's for the Celica.

Just buy a new one. It will end up being less of a headache.

You don't really need a lot of tools.
Most bolts on teh Celi. are 10mm You can just buy a 10mm wrench and you should be fine.

I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

ummmmm...NO. AEM actually runs power over stock throughout the powerband as Injen is below stock from 3K-4.5K rpm. Injen kicks it up real high at Lift (around 6300 and over). but the difference between the injen peak hp and aem peak hp are negligible. the fastest N/A celi driver chose AEM...please don't me me pull out the dynos.

and tpr makes AEM's low-mid range power with Injen's high end power.

amazing how big companies can cookie cutter an Intake and sell it for 200+...had they just implemented the "fins" as found on tpr Intakes they would at least see improvement along the powerband and CEL reoccurance. but not enough research was done... thumbsdown

pm Easy_C he sells them for $150, its better than AEM or INJEN but its not carb exempt so if you live in a state where it needs to be carb exempt in order to pass inspection than its illegal, i live in Cali so its illegal but im gonna take the risk and order it next month anyway grin
