Just installed my TPR on my GT, i think im the first GT to get one. I must say I have owned An AEM, Injen, both of these have good qualities. But both lack in either high end or low end. Not to mention THe CEL, would come on frequently. I wish i would of waited and bought the cheapest CAI on the market. The TPR, may be the lowest price but its Performance is worth its weight in gold.

I have been driving with it on for a little while now i finally got pics. I noticed a BIG difference because i had and INjen on. I can't wait to see how this Intake acts with DC headers and the Power FC. I have great expectations. Oh ya and NO CEL WOO HOOO!
I know i need to clean up my engine bay a little, and i didn't bother putting the mounting bracket on because you don't need it, its firm.

get the TPR, you have to order through easy_c or check there website out... but i forgot the address to their store since their main page is still under construction

For GT sure. For those who don't mind not being CARB go for it. But for GTS AEM rules. thumbsup

^^ I second that.. but for the GT grin

If the TPR was carb approved I'd give it a shot and if it had to cost a little more to be carb approved I still say it be better than having to deal with not being legal tongue

but good to hear your having good results..

Actually, the TPR CAI beats the AEM CAI on a GTS. Similar low end, superior midrange (especially at lift), and better high end. Besides the fact that there is NO BOGGING WHATSOEVER, which is something you can't say about any aftermarket Intake that has ever been released for this car. wink

The results are very positive on a GTS, and SleeprGT agrees that the TPR CAI feels much better than AEM and Injen on a GT. The lack of a CEL or bogging should be the most important fact, since Intakes don't make much power on GTs.

I just find it hard to believe. No offense Easy_C, I wish I knew someone with it so I could see it in person. Good luck with it all. It does look nice in the engine bay I must say.

Well, the dynos for the GT that EasyC put out were unimpressive. It's good to hear you can feel the difference and it sounds good though. smile

The GT i dynoed ran wayy too rich (even with the stock box it was down to like 12.5 ish.) so im gonna dyno another GT.

heres a simple summary

TPR -
pros: good low end and high end, good price
cons: not carb exempt, not enough reputation

AEM -
pros: good low end, reputation, carb exempt
cons: price higher, high end is lil weak, lift lag*, CEL light Sometimes

INJEN -
pros: good high end, reputation, carb exempt
cons: price higher, low end boggin, CEL Light Sometimes, lift lag*

*(lift lag - drop in power, look at dynos)

i personally like TPR and AEM

to make an Intake is not just sticking an aluminum tube and a filter in your car. people have to think about sizing, tube shape for air travel, air flow and turbulence..etc. being carb excempt takes time and money (around 2 months of testing and $6000).TPR is a new company and from what i have seen they have done a lot of research and didn't settle for a cookie cutter Intake...just showing that they implemented "fins" for correct and optimum air flow shows how much testing and knowledge they have...plus they already have dynos that prove it's effectiveness...

hey man, have you ever considered making Intakes for the honda boys? because there have been a lot of complaints from them how AEM USED to make Intakes that were well designed but now just don't make them the way they used to (something about regulating turbulence and airflow better).

TPR has started working on hondas, We have a short ram for the 3rd gen accord and have plans for a CAI for them as well. With the profits from the Intakes and exhausts for the celica, im goin to buy my own mandrel bender so i can design stuff much easier instead of out sourcing the current bending to my machinist

you're forgetting the K&N Typhoon Intake. I have one, and it's great. CARB exempt and sounds and performs great.

The charcoal canister feed that comes out from underneath the fuse box has an actuator that hooks up to it. On AEM and Injen, this is the actuator that hooks up to the tube that comes off the Intake. We replaced that tube with a Breather Filter to allow uninterrupted airflow through the Intake tube.

ive tried aem, it is by far not the "best", then again it is better than the injen as far as driveability is concerned

I'm interested in TPR because it has correct MAF environment dimensions and fins. Celica's MAF and ECM are calibrated to detect and calculate air flow thru a 2.5 inch opening with fins.

Both AEM and Injen place the MAF in a 2.75 inch finless tube environment which throws off the MAF readings, thus the CELs and bogs.

No its in the right spot, I am goin to be updating the install instructions for this soon to relocate that actuator to below the pipe smile.

the breather is about 1-2 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide
