I posted this before. I have 120K+ now. And I used regular oil. Just change it every 3K.

So when you start hitting those high mileage, what can you do to prevent your car from busting out on you?

Also, do you guys actually take your cars to the dealship for their regular maintenance, like those 30K, 60K, and etc. or do you just do it yourself?

Rev, you're going to kill your car if you keep up that rate of oil changes.

My car just turned two and I only have like 22k.

I don't use synthetic. I take my car to the dealership ever 3K for oil change. I've had two major services, One when it hit 60K and the recent one when it hit 90K.
My engine hasn't had any problems and its a 2K GT manual.
The problem has been the tranny and everything has been fixed under warranty. Now since its over 100K I kind of feel scared because my engine its kind of loud and I don't wnat my engine to die on me. but everything is running Ok.

I still contend that changing your oil every 3k miles is pointless. Even our owners manual doesn't suggest that. Jiffy Lube has just gotten to all of you guys.

Rev is VERY correct.

If you run a full synthetic, and you change it every 3k, you are wasting money.

JiffyCrap says 3, Toyota says 7.

Jiffy lube wants to sell you oil, Toyota wants to sell you car parts. Split the difference at 5-6K and you're all set.

I changed mine once at 7K, and the Mobil 1 coming out was the same color as teh stuff going in spineyes

My 86 Celica ST gave up the ghost last June with 210 grand + on the odometer. Any car that lasts 15 years of my driving deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor. Keeping the car up and oil changes seem to be the key longevity, after not doing stupid stuff and totaling the thing out. These are good cars and with good upkeep will last 200,000 +. Good Luck!!
