If you want to DIY, you have to get the right sized Turbo with the right trim and A/R ratio. You also have to spec the correct sized intercooler and all of the silicone couplers and elbows, along with fabricate a new oil system for the Turbo. You'll have to get those pipes made somewhere, most people don't have a mandrel or even a crush bender in their garage. Don't forget about the vacuum lines or the new exhaust manifold that you're going to have to fab up. You also need to get the correct wastegate and mount it in a safe place, and finally, you'll need to get a few thousand dollars worth of electronics to manage and tune everything in blissful harmony. Last but not least you have to check to see if there's any shaft play or problems with the nice used Turbo that you scrounged. eBay is not your friend in this regard.
If you don't understand what I just said, this is absolutely not the project for you. A Turbo system is complex and expensive, it's not a weekend fling to be attempted by a noob who doesn't know what he's doing.
