I just need some help with my car because im looking to fix it myself rather taking it to a shop i just need to locate the problem so if anyone knows what is wrong plz let me know the symptoms are that the car wont start. When the key is turned to accessories everything comes on fine but when the key is turned to on to start the car it struggles and tries to start but cuts out and then i hear clicking sounds. i let go of the key and try to turn to on again and again i hear clicking sounds i think it might be the starter but i would like some help any help would be much appreciated thank you.

To be honest, I would have a friend (if you know someone) that does mechanic work to come look at it. Find someone you know that knows a little more about it to help you out. It may be something as simple as a gas line is pinched, but it would be worth your money to take it to a mechanic. (that doesn't neccessarily mean taking it to a toyota dealership!). Sorry and good luck!

If it's clicking then it might be either the starter or celinoid (spelling?). I had this same symptoms on an old VW Rabit I used to own, ended up buying a new starter. Should be able to pull the starter off and have it tested for pretty cheap. Good Luck.

well without actually hearing it for myself my best guess would be the celinoid as well.

that seriously sounds like a dead starter...the clicking is from the alternator trying to give the car juice...but the starter is faulty, and won't turn the engine over
