Ok guys I got my first ticket for careless and reckless driving and need some help to see if I can get rid of this so my insurance goes up. I was in a parking lot when I took off like normal up to 35 when a cop on my drivers side door pulled me over. I figured he heard my Intake and thought I was speeding. He worte me for the above ticket and said he cclocked me at 50. I had to sit in his car while he wrote the ticket and he didnt seem to have a radar gun in his car. I need some help guys since this is my first ticket. Thanks tons.

You can get a lawyer to fight almost anything, especially this. He should have no problem reducing this to a non-moving violation (parking ticket).

Expect to pay anywhere from $30-$100, depending on where you go. Don't go to a "Traffic Law Center" because they will charge the most. Ask around, and find out where friends/relatives get their tickets fixed. Chances are they go to a lawyer they know that does this kinda shit on the side for a few extra bucks.

All the lawyer has to do (in most minor cases) is place a call or two, and that's it. Especially if it's your first ticket.

As you sat in the back you should have said "holy $hit I bet this is a REALLY fast car huh!" haha. ALWAYS ask to see the readout on the radar.

man i would just pay it off, it shouldn't be more than $100-$150, if you fight it with a lawyer it will cost more. Be on the lookout for cops where ever you go!

actually my insurnace will triple so it wouldnt be worth just paying the ticket off. He wrote I was going 50 in a heavy populated parking lot and it was one of the worst violations he could give. I think its crap considering I have an auto gts and hit 40 peak in first gear and I never left first gear before I slowed. thumbsdown

He has no proof. He can't determine acceleration. He can't determine speed without his radar gun. It's odd he had you wait in his car. So what lots of others do, and fight it. Explain to the judge that yes, you have an Intake, but it's for track purposes only. Tell them that the cop has no way of clocking you, or measuring your acceration accurately.

What an ass! Hope things will turn out good for you tho. I hate it when cops pull folks over just because they have to hit their quota.

I dont know if its the same where you live, but in Texas a parking lot is considered private property, so the cop cant give a ticket. I was practicing drifting in a parking lot one time, and the cop just told me to stop.

Fight it yourself, why get a lawyer. Present yourself professionally, wear a suit or something. The main thing you have to do is poke holes in his procedure. Make it look like he screwed something up.

this cop definetely didnt gun ur speed man. if he did, he would tell you wut speed you were going, he didnt even tell you how fast you were going. he just said he heard a noise. thats complete bs. you have Intake and exhaust, and that sounds louder than average cars. tell the cop to go find some other noises to chase. same thing happened to a friend of mine who only has CAI. he pulled him over just because it sounded loud (AEM CAI). he ended up giving him a ticket since there was no carb # on the Intake (somehow doesnt have it), and he also got searched hardcore. he also missed a class
