I just got a used 2000 Celica GTS a week ago, and everytime i get past 45 mph, I can greatly hear wind hitting agains't the car? and like the back tires agains't the road and many other loud noises coming from the back outside of my car to inside my car? Does this happen to anyone else to? Or how to solve this problem?

Its the rear air vent

if you switch your car to Interior air it closes that vent.. er well makes it quieter

threis a thread here somewhere.. .basicly in the rear driver side by the tail light assembly there is an air vent to increase air flow

Best way to solve this problem and not suffocate is to turn your radio on smile thumbsup

I had so many annoy rattles and squeaky noises coming from the back of my car that I finally stripped the entire trunk of my car. My trunk latch is disabled so I never put anything back there anyways.

Q: How do you double the value of a Ford?
A: You put gas in it.

Check the TSB's under Tech Info. --> wind noises (mirror).

BTW The back airvents (under the rear lights) or only used when you close your hatch or door (to let the pressure out). You can't disable it by pushing a button. This airvent vents out under the rear bumper. It normally has a plastic flap covering it. This flap can only go outside and so decrease pressure in the car when closing the hatch or so. This flap reduces the sound from outside the car. Just check if it is still there (mine wasn't at one side).

Did you remove the floormat in the trunk? This is also some sound isolation.

Did you remove any panels in the rear?

Chenk all that, if it still too loud for you, turn up your radio. Mine is pretty quiet now after some modifications.

What sounds?

Because the rear vents under the back lights are just holes covered whit a black plastic flap that works like a check valve (only to the outside). This hole is covered by the back bumper. There is nothing to disable. It serves only as a sort of safety valve for letting pressure out.

Letting air from outside in the car maybe causes a little pressure rise and that's why the plasic flap opens a bit and cause a sound. Check the plastic flap.

Didnt mean to imply it disabled it, just that the sound becomes almsot unaudiable when on Cycle. Prolly just from the decrease of air pressure like you said.
