to port or seal

I dont know what to get. Im having my box made soon and i thought i wanted a sealed box just because of the cleaner sound. But a guy said that in a hatch its much smarter to use a ported box. So any input?

For SQ go sealed. For SPL go ported...

- some say that you always get tighter bass with a sealed enclosure but I tend to disagree. Alot depends on the sub you'll be using and the space you have to work with

i have been using sealed box since 98'. it sounds so much better than ported or bandpass...

^^ ditto. back when I used to make/install sytems and stuff, I would always recommend sealed for non-competition uses smile

it all depends on the sub you decide to use. some subs are designed specifically for a ported application
