trd filter? how much?? just use toyota oil filter..
on my car i use Fram for oil filter and mobil 1 full synthetic ($20 for 5quarts) oil 5W30 ..too bad they don't have mobil 1 oil filter here or else i'd use that too.

but have fun changing ur oil...u should change it rather then having ur dad do it for u..

make sure you jack ur car up securely because you gonna have to crawl under the car..u don't want it to squish you like a bug do ya??

i think it'll be fine..unless anyone else disagree.
either that or castrol GTX High milage oil for you bro..since you got 60k..but as long as it's full synthetic you be good either way..do not get quaker ok? i heard it'll kill ur engine in the long run..stay away from it..

mobil 1 or castrol GTX..

conventional or psynthetic is fine just make sure you change it regularly and stay with recomended weight 5w30 or 10w30 unless new engine has been installed then whatever that paperwork states ...high mileage oils are good but i dont now about sludge buid up from them i have 26000 and use pennzoil full synthetic 5w30 and use blend in my truck 162000 mile no problems in either

Go with full synthetic mobil 1 5w30 it wont break down as much and in turn is better for your engine.

if you go with synthetic oil, you'll have to stick with it for life. remember, you can't go back and forth, you'll kill the engine. synthetic does cost more, but it's worth though...

IMO, if you want race oil go with RedLine 10W40 especially if you rev to 8300 on a GTS. When it's heated it's more viscous than just about any full-synthetic oil out there, so it will give you the most protection and Performance on our high revving GTS. It's a 10W40 so of course it won't give the same fuel economy as the RedLine 5W30 also a good oil. If you want to go all out and get the best oil filter IMO, get the K&N High-performance Oil Filter, part number HP-1003. If you want to learn about motor oil, you can go to this webpage which is quite comprehensive on the subject:
http://www.vtr.org/maintain/oil-overview.html

Also if a store doesn't carry RedLine 10W40 near you, you can buy it online here at a good price for the stuff:

What would be the best oil for a gt? It seems like most of you that use synthetic have GTS. Is there a difference in preferred oil for a GT? Should I be using synthetic for my GT? Sorry if a noob question but just not sure... happywink

I don't see a problem. Just drain it and change the filter as you normally would. Use some of the new oil to flush every bit of old oil out.

It doesn't matter what you have, synthetic wlll always outperform conventional. I guess the reason why you see more GTS people using synthetic is that they take that extra precaution given that their engine revs higher and has a higher compression ratio.
You could sort of sense how your engine is running and how well lubed it is, you know? I felt that my engine was underperforming with the stock stuff...it just felt sluggish. The first time I did my own change I used Quaker State full synthetic and I felt more power and torque being made in lift. Then I used RedLine and then I was feeling my engine barely had to work that hard to get up to lift and then throughout. The power felt smooth. No, I didn't do any dyno tests, but I'm very sensitive to my car.
Since a GT doesn't rev as high as the GTS and has lower compression, you'd be fine with Redline 10W30. That's actually what I use in my GTS right now and it works great. But I have an 02 GTS and I was only going up to 7700 rpm. Now that I have the PowerFC, I might try to see how 10W30 feels at 8500 rpm, and then how 10W40 feels at 8500 rpm, if it helps any or not.
It will take you longer to warm up your car with a thicker oil, but I don't care since I just want Performance. If you are the kind of person to want to get in your car, and go, you should use RedLine 5W30 especially if you live in cold areas where it gets in the singe digits. Personally, I would never go anywhere without warming up my car for a few minutes even on a warm day. Some people are intuitive and some are not. If you are not, then maybe you don't want to use too thick of an oil because you might not feel when your engine is ready to drive. It could me and I could be making too much out of it like a freak hehe, but I really do notice slight changes in my car.

Mobil One isn't full synthetic. FRAM oil filter suck, they have a cardboard filter elements. Many problems with leaking, bad seals and clogging. Dont ever use a Fram!!!
