Step one: Open the hood. rofl

Seriously, has no one ever just torn into a car before? Open it up, tear the damn thing apart until you find the spark plugs. I've never seen the damn car and I could probably do it.

No offense, but it's spark plugs man. just get in there and start looking... you'll figure it out.

It's really hard to screw up installing spark plugs. under the hood should be the gap measurement you need (on one of the stickers). Owners manual has torque specs, but you can get away with tightening them without a torque wrench. They sell sockets that have a rubber insert at the base of them, buy one if you don't have it. It makes the whole install easier, plus it'll prevent you from breaking the plug. Other than that, you're on our own buddy. Hope this helped.

Maybe that's a good idea for you.

Question:
How did you (or plan to) mod your car if you're afraid to change spark plugs? I'm not trying to bust on you, but c'mon... they're just spark plugs. You'll never learn unless you get in there and do it. If it's practice you want, change the spark plug in your lawnmower. It'll teach you the basics.

I know, I was actually being serious. Hell if you f' up your lawnmower, it's only like $150 to get the engine completely re-done. Might as well start somewhere...

open the hood and look for the wires...pop the wires off of the spark plug...and you should need a socket wrench or something...and just undo it and pull it out...(also...if it falls back in after you try to pull it out...stick some putty in the socket of your wrench and push on the old spark plug until it comes out) (then if you had to use the putty wipe it off before you install the new ones)slip the new ones in and reapply the wires...and you good to go

im 14 and i have done twice already rofl

give it a shot and let me know thumbsup

Lame advice IMO, be detailed or don't post.

You really think "just do it" helps? Horrible way to give advice. So when he gets the gap wrong and has a miss fire its on you, when he snaps a plug its on you. thumbsdown

Its not quality advice, no detail specific to the car he is working on. Don't care if it is easy not how advice should be dished out. lame.

also make sure you get the correct plugs for your celica thumbsup

and be sure when reapplying the spark plug wires that the number match (if there are numbers)

do one at a time so you dont mix them up thumbsup

^^^Good info bro..appreciated, you been a lot of help.

i would do it if i'm doing my celi, but in this case it's not my car you know what i mean?? because if i screw up and something bad happen, i'm f*ucked...if i mess up my car then it's my fault and it's my car..i wouldn't feel as bad but messing up some other people's car, then it's bad bad bad..downhill from there..

oh yeah i figure out where the spark plug is..now i just need tools..went to wal-mart and bought 4 new Bosch Platinum spark plug for the car today..tomorrow her dad will install it for her..but later on i'm def..gonna have to change my celi plug..

i know they are the right size..but don't know if it's the right kind..i looked it up on the machine that wal-mart have and they have like 3 diff. kinds of plug. champion, autolite, and bosch..i went with bosch double platinum..i figure more money mean more quality and better plug..so it'll be all good..

i'll let you know how it went..

Maybe if this was EverythingCorrola.com he might of gotten some good advice. I have never seen under the hood of a corrola nor do I ever care to. Are you suggesting I go and do research on Corrolas, find the proper gap, proper plug, proper wire kit, and the location of the plugs just so I can give him a more detailed explaination? And how much level of detail is required for changing f'ing spark plugs? You take the old one's out, you put new one's back in, end of story. You want more detail, go buy a Chilton's...

What info did you bring to this topic? Where's your detailed steps on changing spark plugs? What did you do to help this guy besides complain?
