I'm really thinking about getting these. Same power gains for half the price.The only let down is that it's ceramic.

Are you sure that mild steel with ceramic coating is lighter than ss Norway?

Ceramic doesnt last nearly as long as SS. The DC ceramic header will only last 1-2 years in bad conditions w/ salt and snow. And expect 5 yrs in normal weather. The ceramic will start to crack and chip and start to rust. Its really a problem with the hondas cause the header hangs low under the car and is really exposed. Thats basically what you'll hear from the honda sites. But for only 285, Im definately pickin one up.

I've heard that the ceramic weighs more. The mild steel isnt that light. But I dont think its that much of a difference between the weight of ceramic and SS. A couple lbs at the most.

dunno. what is trial made of?

trial = heavier then stock

DC = lighter then stock.

I have never seen anyone post an independant dyno of the trial header.

is it a good ideal to spray something on the header to help the ceramic coating last longer and to prevent rust or cracks from developing? Is there such thing out there for that?

I think trial, overall, is the better quality but it's a little too pricey. DC sports on the other hand got the reputation. Hmmm. Now I'm in a debate. If I had the money, I'll probably get the trial because it will last longer. Are you sure the DC sports only last 1-2 years? Not a very good investment if you ask me. If anyone here or knows someone that has the DC sports header, please give some info and dynos.

stainless steel is heavier than mild steel. the only things lighter are aluminum and titanium.

stainless will hold up better to the elements, but if it's ceramic coated, it will hold up just fine, plus it'll keep underhood temps down (remember, your heat shield will be gone after a header install) it's also good for scavenging the exaust and making sure it runs hot enough for the cat to work.

lastly, if you get a ceramic-coated header, don't thermal wrap it, it's bad for the ceramic coating, and may cause it to crack or flake off (wrapping it retains too much heat at the ceramic layer) you won't need it anyways if it's ceramic-coated; still hot to the touch though, so watch those fingers if you work under the Hood whie the engine is still hot.

I dented the header on my escort at one point, but the ceramic stayed on, only one small scratch, but it never got worse, or flaked off, even after I knocked the dent out, it stayed on.

ceramic coating is impressive stuff, and it'll keep the rust away really well too! Just as reliable as stainless, just better in terms of thermal insulation. thumbsup

I wouldnt say that ceramic is "just as reliable as stainless" but i agree it will hold up pretty well. I trust DCsports. My question is that when ppl say that ceramic headers crack, do they mean that just the coating cracks or the actual header that cracks?

Well, to be honest, I don't know much about trial but I do know a little about DC sports. For example, My friend installed a ceramic DC sports header for his 97 honda accord (daily driver). He had it for 3-5 months. It started the rust and look like shit. It looks like it was 5 years old and started to crack (outer layer). That's why I "think" trial is better since it's SS. Most likely, I'll probably get the trial, it's JDM. My celica's worth it.
