i dont really know how much that conversion would cost but a 5spd to a 6spd would be more sensible

for the install your looking at least 800-1000 dollars. but itll be more feasiable to have a 5 spd then the 6 spd.

all together your looking at about 1500-2000 or so depending on where you get the transmission from.

If you had more than enough money, then you would have gotten a GTS.

You probably live in an apartment also.

And learn something about cars before you post stupid questions like this.

^^ Why are you being so harsh to her wtf Assuming things about others doesn't make you look better either slidr. Also, for whoever said just "get a GTS and make your life easier" it might be more logical for her to just get the swap instead of going though the whole hassle of trading in her GT, finding a resonably priced GTS and buying it.

Oh and BTW: The reason for this website is for members to learn whether they're new or not, you posting comments about learning about cars before coming on here is BS thumbsdown Anyone has the right to ask whatever they want.

Because her name is "sexycelicababe" and she's 17... where do you think she is getting the money for the conversion from if she has "more than enough"?

"Daddy, I need $3000 for a tranny".

Not saying that's the case... but I'm saying that's why he's probably being so harsh.

OK i've done lot of research on my gts auto also.
i've tried everywhere(most of the shop only do hondas, its very hard to find new toyota shops)
if you go to Toysports.com, they will do your tranny conversion and they know what they are doing, they've been dealing with toyotas long long long time.
the price they gave me was 2000. however that was including parts. So if you can find parts for real cheap, the price probably go down more. so far i found all the parts for 6 speed tranny was around 700 for all the parts you need.
And most of the shops charge 1000 for labor.
So if everything is right you are looking it about 1500-1700 for the conversion.
Which is not bad considering all the work has to be done.

but one thing you have to considered. Almost 80% of people who changed their tranny, usually have problem and they take it back to the shop. the shop will fix it, but its just hassle. Plus if you still have warranty on your car, you should wait until it goes over, then start doing shit to your car. Thats my plan for my car. I've got half more way to go. And by then the prices and parts will be cheaper and easier to find. And more parts such as clutch, flywheel, and shifter. so you don't have to change it later.

This is just a suggestion. And i feel you man. auto kinda sucks. But its good in traffic. And hell, as long as you look good in the car, the speed doesn't matter.
damn that was long.
if you need more info, pm me or talk to me on JKonquer34@aol
And i've already found parts for my car, so if you need place to find it, let me know.
aight then

Nope not trying to hook up , more like trying to help a celica owner out. but if thats the vibe you got fuck it to each there own.

And by the way sexycelica ignore the previouse post most of the older guys on here get pissed when repeated questions get asked. just ignore them and feel free to ask any questions you would like. hence the reason why where here to ask questions and help each other out.

Thanks, Ronna

Haha, you make me laugh!, REASONS WHY YOU ARE WASTING MONEY:
1.) You should of bought a GTS
2.) Stick shift is not all that badass, it gets repetative
3.) You probably can't drive a stick properly
4.) Anyone you take your claim to will tell you you're wasting you're money.

If people yell at you for repetative posts or stupid ones, get used to it, IT'S CALLED LIFE.

^^ WTF?

1.) There's a thing called a price difference with a GT to a GTS. If Jae's research is correct than that's a big difference on the prices. ( The price diff from GTS to GT is about $4,665.00)

2.) If she wants stick shift she can have it, the cars I've driven in with stick are fine and I don't get bored.

3.) Your in no position to assume how she can drive stick. You have no clue so there's no reason to assume.

4.) That's your opinion, that's not a fact so you shouldn't act like it is.

If you feel like calling this a stupid post you should check yourself. Leave it to the other members of the site that are willing to help. Posting on this thread just to say it's stupid is a reflection of yourself thumbsdown

just one question...not to sound mean or anything, but why didn't you just get a 5-spd gt instead of an auto, the conversion would have been so much easier and the 5-spd would have been cheaper than the auto...i understand the need to want a manual (i have an auto gts frown ) but if you wanted a 6-spd gt, why not just make it easier off the start???
