I went to the dealership today to get an oil change. I remember there was a thread on cleaning MAF sensor a while ago, but anyways, I cleaned my sensor a while ago, but my car still felt slow and hesitant. I asked the dealer to check it out and they told me that
I t was the MAF sensor. They said it needed replacing and it would cost me about $250 to replace, luckily I still have my extended warranty and it covered it. They said because I have a K&N filter and thats why it went bad. Is this true, How often do you have to replace them? Has anybody replaced their MAF sensor and if so, how long did it went bad after they bought their car?

I call 100% Bull Shit on the K&N filter being the problem!!! TRD filter is made by K&N and uses the same kit to clean and oil it. So in a matter of speaking they just blamed the TRD filter, a licensed toyota product. Make them explain that.

Sure you could have over oil your filter and junked up your MAF sensor. But I think you damaged it when you cleaned it, if it was damaged at all.

I heard this is the oil from the filter that make the MAF dirty...

I was having the TRD air filter (same as the K&N that fit in the stock air box) and I was having this problem...

So I put a Injen SRI... I'm cleaning the MAF when I have the chance to do it... and I don't have much hesitation...

I probably reoiled it too much. But the sensor has hesitating a lot way before I tried to clean it. Next time I try to reoil it I will be careful.

^^^ I Read your link, another example of why Toyota has not seen my car since I bought it. They have there heads way up there asses. So quick to blame aftermarket parts rather than hunt down the real problem.

Toyota service can S my D!! happywink
