Hey,

Just wondering, a used Celica 2000 GT with 80K on it. Is it worth $10,000?

depends on the options.

Fully loaded it's worth 10K (edmunds.com)

no spoiler/sunroof/alloy/power it's worth 7K

The Kelley Blue Book website evaluates the value of a used car based on condition, location, options, etc. Check it out. It also shows what cars are available and the asking price, mostly at dealers. Some in your area are asking up to about $14K for 2000 GTs with 50-60K miles. Private party sales should be less.

Yours doesn't seem to be a bad price if it is in great condition. If they haven't already had the timing belt changed, try to make that a condition of the sale. And, of course, check the oil change records and make sure the tires have plenty of use left. Whatever you do, don't let emotion rule. It's strictly a business decision no matter how great the car looks. Some time ago I was looking to get a good used RX-7. A young woman was selling a top-of-line model of the last of the first generation. It was in great shape, and I was willing to give her top dollar based on the retail price, but she wanted a couple grand more than that. I could not have insured it for enough to pay for it if someone totalled it on my way home. So, no sale. She must not have really wanted to sell it.

Celicas have a timing chain, not a belt. thumbsup

Thanks guys.

So does those Timing Chains do wear out?

See, the car that I was talking about is from a dealership. Reason why I wanted to see if that was a good deal is because I wanted to just perform a trade in with the car that I am driving right now. Problem is, seems like the car is a bit riced out. It has a big ass exhaust, not too sure what kind it is, but it is huge.

After 100K, hehe, that is too close. How much does it cost for a replacement including labor and getting ripped apart by dealers?

Look for another used Celica. perhaps a gts with less miles. may be a couple g's more, but you can still talk them down. I think 10g's for 80k miles is thumbsdown Just be patient and find something else.

my 00 gt w/ 45k is barely worth 10k, adding 35k more def puts it under 10k

I've got a '00 GT and I got it for $10,000 with 85K on it. You have to weigh a lot of different factors in with whether or not to perchase that car. Is it carfax certified? What brand is the car? How beaten up is the car? Miles don't mean that much if it's a well-maintained Toyota. They last forever.

I say go for it. thumbsup

If soemething breaks you can replace it with a better aftermarket part wink
