Well I decided to not trade in my car for a GTS 6 speed, do to the fact that it would be a waste to remove all of my after market stuff and install it all over again. so I just made an appointment with the local tranny shop for a 2zz swap and 6 speed swap into my GT. I hope it all goes smoothly!

yeah bro good luck with the prices, shops in my area want at least 2 grand for labor alone. eek

So i decided that the swap would not be worth doing through a shop. parts alone that are needed cost around $1,500 so it'll take at least 3,500 to get the whole thing complete, not to mention the time it'll take a shop to do it. personally i'm going to do the changeover myself with my bro helping me.

You would rather pay 7k to do this, over just taking off you aftermarket parts, and installing them over again on a new car?

Bad move IMO.

That car is not going to have the resale value of a GTS, so if you get in an accident, or decide to sell the car, it's not gonna work out.

You better plan on driving that thing until it dies, or take a big loss.

you could have one super fast GT for 7K. why waste it on a stock 2zz motor?

you could put easily 300 whp with 7K compare that to 154 from a stock 2zz and its like whoa. half the power fo rthe same cost?? sooo not worth it.

u betta have second thought about all this man..7k is not a small amount..listen to those guys, even with 3k people are still having second thought..i think you should just take all ur aftermarket stuff off and go trade it in for the GTS..not worth the swap..or you can just go Turbo with 7k..think about it, ask for question b4 you really decides to go with the swap..i hope you reconsider..

I'd probably put in a Turbo for the amount of cash you're throwing at a tranny swap...

well we do have to look at this from his point of view:

he has had that car for some time so there's some sentimental value towards it

he has some mods like a kit and audio put in

if he were to trade in there would be a signifgant loss. (lose money in trade, labor to reinstall previous parts)

personally i want to do the swap because my car is MY car, i have a strong connection with it. and if i were to trade in it would not be a celica, and the swap would be done by me. Even if the swap costed me 4k i'd rather have the swap than a Turbo simply for the fact that a manual tranny is more fun and makes the difference that much. manual tranmissions are not only better for drag but also for autoX.
