DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, ISAAC?

CAN'T YOU JUST UNPLUG THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS INSTEAD OF CUTTING WIRES? I DID THAT THE OTHER DAY AND JUST WRAPPED THE ENDS IN ELECTRICAL TAPE. OH YEAH, I PUT IN SOME HI LITE XENON BULBS THE OTHER DAY, AND THE HIGH BEAM JUST BLEW UP INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT, THEY WORKED FINE 2 HOURS EARLIER WHEN I PUT IT IN, DO YOU KNOW WHY?

^^^ He doesn't like you???

Sounds like the Hi Lies that you put in had grease on them from your hands which made a hot spot on the bulbs causes them to blow up. When you installed the bulbs did you wear rubber gloves?? If not did you make sure that you didn't touch them with you bare hands???

He's new...and new people think because isaac runs ecelica, that he has done everything possible to his car (even impossible stuff like putting hondata in his car). They also think caps gets their point accross.

MARCT: Did you touch the bulb with your skin? The oil from your fingers can and will prolly burst the lights. Oil + heat = bad. Thats why you should not touch them, or at least use medical gloves.

Also, they sell end caps for wires. Its a lot better than just having them wrapped with electrical tape imo.

It should work if you touched it, it's just not good for the bulb cause it could blow.

And to the guy who started this thread...

The DRL's are the highbeams, so if you unpluged them, then yes, you did disable the DRL's, but you now don't have highbeams for nighttime driving.

What's the big deal with DRL? Just leave it. This "mod" doesn't make your car go faster nor does it make it look better, IMO. confused

Sure ill reply, Noob , day time running lights wont do much for Performance but personal prefernace of likes or dislike. now for tapeing the ends off thats a good way to do it but remember tape isnt forever and the chance for the tape to fall off will happen down the road. now for cutting wires well if you cut once you cant put it back together unless you have a lot of tape or you know how to solder. either way i see it as a personal preferance on doing this little mod smile

its kinda like
A> should i use tape
B> should i cut

i have created an example for you
A> should i wear boxers today?
B> should i wear a thong today?

either way the job will get done its just two different ways of going at it.

and for the senior members ... dont forget to use protection when raping a noob smile

http://www.electrical-online.com/howtoarticles/Lighting/Halogen.htm

"When replacing any halogen bulb, do not touch the glass envelope. The salts in your skin oils penetrate and weaken the glass. The bulb not only has a shorter life, but when the bulb dies the filament doesn't merely burn out, but rather the bulb envelope shatters. The light bulb industry calls it a "non-passive failure."

Day time running lights are NOT the highbeams.

Disabling the DRL's is a modification that is sanctioned by Toyota, and can be done at most Toyota dealerships upon request:

actualy... it **IS** the high beams... but at about 50% the power...

disconnecting the bulb will disable the DRL and highs... interrupting the circuit (by cutting or other means) will prevent the signal from the light sensor to the DRL feature.

your parking lights (aka, driving lights) are different than your drl...

parking lights are on whenever the car is on...

drl is on during the day... they go off in the dark and your lo-beams are automatically turned on

Well put, and great visuals. I stand corrected.

It just bugged me because I knew that doing the DRL disable mod was not supposed to take out your high beams. I should have done more homework before posting.

All caps is just kinda hard on the eyes. I never disabled my DRL's, I just unplugged these...

Then when I have my lowbeams on, those little lights aren't on.
