Initially i planned to go with four JL W0's through a 4 channel amp that would deliver about 100 watts per channel. I went to a car audio store and the guy said that would definetly hit hard, but recommended a single JL 12w6v2 through an alpine MRD-M501 instead. He said this would not only sound better, but would also deliver at least as much if not more volume. What do you all think?

if you want good clean bass, go with a 10w7 paired with a 500/1 amp...

The new series of w6 is almost like a reproduction of the w7 at about half the cost. The w7 came first and then the w6 was changed to be more like the w6. Money is an issue, so the w6 is definetly the best boom for the buck. Also, I looked at the 500/1 amp, and the same guy who recommended the w6 actually recommended this alpine mrd-m501 instead of the 500/1. The alpine costs about $100 less, and the guy said he would rather go with the alpine than the jl. eve though the alpine costs less, he said it was a better amp and was far less likely to shut off from an overload.
