I was wondering if anyone was sucessful in removing that pretty useless plastic tray (right behind the rear seats) in the trunk? I remember reading that under it is a metal bar or something. I want to know if its not too difficult to remove so that there would be much more room for a speaker box back there. It would look pretty sweet and allow for more trunk space at the same time.

not hard at all.. here's what you do..look for the 2 clip at each end of the plastic.. only 2 clip, use a pen and press the center of the clip down and remove it..that's it..pull everything up and out and u're done, but it'll look bad if you don't have anything to cover it up..

All my trunk plastics are out for a while or in and nothing secured. It's easy. I think you have to loosten both sides plastics also to slide that tray out. No wait you're right. Damn, now I'm going to have to put the plastics back in just to familiarize myself with the trunk set up again.

^^^hehe..i just put all mine back yesterday..i was like where this clip go? where that go..i took them off for like 2wks and couldn't remember exactly where, plus that fact that some one put all the clip and bolts together in one cup when i already separated them out so i could remember where it goes..but no sweat, there are only 8 or 10 totals of bolts and clips..5 for each side.
Oh yah, if you can't rmember where they go, go to new celica.org, under the installs page there's the TRD rear strut bar install guide..it won't let me post the link onto here..very detail. with pics too.

watch what you put in in place of the tray. That bolt back in under the metal brace is your top shock bolt and you will need to get to it to remove your rear shocks

In my profile theres pics of my sub box. I used plans from celica.net to build it. I holds a 12" and hides all the wiring behind the flaps on the sides and the amp mounts to the face. You can find more information in the electrical/audio section of the celica.net message board in a frequently asked questions post on the top of that board.

Everything in the trunk is pretty easy to take out. I take it all out sometimes. Some of the plastic clips break very easily.
