ive been hearing about the belt tensioner going bad and making noise, just wondering what it sounds like, i have more noises coming from under the hood than i can count, would be nice to eleminate one, and when its going bad does it constantly make noise, or just every once in a while

on my moms passport it sounded like a loud squeaking sound. it's hard to explain, but it's a constant squeaking sound & it's pretty high pitched.

You will hear it mostly at idle, and then it will go away.

i had my belt tensioner replaced twice...I have a 00 celica gt n i started noticing belt squeeling noises everytime i turned on the car in the morning then it gradually continued to everytime i start the car...got it fixed the first time under warrenty but the second time it was outta my own pocket angry id get it checked out as soon as possible or it could do some damage rice

yeah, since it's been just over a year since my old dealer replace mine and the dealer near me said they can't cover it.

i had mines replaced about 5 months ago its a high pitched squeeling when you start the car and when i rev past 3k it squeels even louder, get it checked out

today on the way home i started wondering if anybody responded to my question, and not but 2 seconds later my belt started sqealing like hell, firt time its done it. mine stops sqealing at idle
