Gas Milage GT and GTS

Hello,

I have used Google and the search engine here, I just need a really quick info.

I am thinking of getting a GTS, but how bad will that effect my wallet in terms of Gasoline? I need to feed it no less than 91 correct? This is comparing a GT to a GTS both are manual.

Thanks!

I have a manual GTS, which means I need to use premium gas. I do great on gas. I average around 30-32 MPG. thumbsup

$25 weekly? Cool, I usually spend about $20 per week.

In terms on how you drive, how are you guys getting 30+ MPG? Any tricks of the trade? I know that there is a sticky, but I want to know how you guys do it personally.

Thank you.

1- keep ur revs lower than 3-4k rpm
2- accelerate smoothly.
3- use breaking more than downshifting, rev matching.
4- drive the speed limit.
5- dont use ac.
6- have ur windows up and sunroof closed.
7- have less weight in the car.
8- good tire pressure.
9- put high octane gas
10- use fuel injection cleaner for every oil change
11- Intake and exhaust
12- ease up on gas, use neutral on downhills
13- maintain ur car well so it keeps the good gas mileage as engine gets older.
14- standard size rims

depends how often you drive, but always aim ur payments higher. like expect paying 80$ a month or less.

$80 a month? I am actually paying that right now, hehe.

Thanks for those tips, will be using that ritually.

What do you mean by number 11 (Intake and Exhaust)? I get better MPG if I add an Intake and exhaust to my car.

Intake and exhaust added to ur car will improve ur gas mileage.
btw, 80$ is the maximum you will pay. like i said, aim higher payments. its better that way so ull end up spending less and saving more.
if you do all the stuffs listed, and you have a pretty good engine, you will get 30mpg easily

I never knew that adding Intake and exhaust gives you better MPG, I thought it was the total opposite. That is very good to hear.

Stefanoc - You drive a GTS correct? How do you like it? Have you tried a GT? Which is better overall in your opinion?

i will drive a gts if i find a good deal around me. i dont own one, but looking for one to buy.
ive driven a gts and i liked it except the unfriendly gearbox which ull get used to. the only thing that gts has that gt doesnt is abs and lift. get gts if you want a 6 speed and sometimes want to race it or else dont get a gts. why do you want a celica and wut r you gonna do with it?

if you want it because the way it looks then get a gt. if you want to buy it and make it a showcar(or just want to make it look nice) get a gt. if you want it for the looks plus extra power that is cool(which you can only get after 6000rpm), then get a gts. if you care about Performance and want to add basic mods on it (Intake, exhaust, header...) get the gts. if you want to modify it hardcore (Intake, exhaust, header, engine swap...) get a gt. you need 87 octane gas for gt and 91 octane for gts. but the difference is not too much between them. if you spend 80$ a month for gas on the car, ur gonna end up paying 80 more bucks for the whole year. just dont get wut you dont want bcz ur impatient, ull regret it

stefanoc - I actually did find a good deal on a GTS and a GT. I have posted on a different thread regarding which one to get. Both can be had for 12K and each one has its own advantages.

I want a Celica because the 2000 Celica that I used to drive was abruptly taken away. So now I have decided to sell the car I am left with and get another Celica. This time it will be a manual.

I will not be racing, but I would love to get the extra "umph" when I need it. The only mods I will be doing will be mostly exterior with minor engine work (exhaust, Intake).
